In regards to the locked thread here, I have made an adjustment to the Terms of Service. The phrase "without notice or reason" has been altered to state "without notice should the administration deem it necessary".

Now, this is not to say that we won't warn or notify users of potential administrative actions, as we should always strive to do so if we have the time to do so... this is more to clear up the issue of the "no reason" confusion.

Moderators should/will always have a reason for banning. This clause was intended to include bannings for reasons not specifically listed on the TOS, as those situations do occasionally arise, but we do need to reserve the right to ban someone, despite the fact that the specific action may not be mentioned in the TOS.

It's simply a safety-net, in case we missed anything, and need to act.

I hope this clears it up.

Cool. That modification makes a lot of sense -- practically and politically.

The rewrite seems fine to me, but it's this type of thing that makes me wonder why we can't have a Mod's Online Page. If you have the ability to alter the TOS page, why can't you alter/duplicate the User's Online page?

Altering the TOS is simple as it's a static HTML page that we can alter. It's an administrative function which doesn't require changing source code.

The Users Online link actually queries the database, so we'd have to alter that call, which would mean we'd have to have access to the code.
