ST Rey's mother

Phasma is going to take her helmet off sooner or later. Gwendoline Christie is 37. She certainly doesn't look her age, but with make up work, she could pass as 40-ish. Theory: Luke goes to Jakku when he is 40-ish looking for candidates for the new Jedi Academy and meets Lor San Tekka. Or, Luke seeks him out because he was a Jedi scholar/archive specialist before the fall of the Republic. Luke meets San Tekka's grandaughter, Phasma. She is 20-ish at the time, and knows nothing about her parents because they died while she was an infant. Jedi vows or not (did Luke ever formally swear to them?), or because he senses something about the future, they form a relationship. They marry, and have a daughter. While living in the bastion of the New Republic, Phasma discovers that her parents were serving the Empire, on the first Death Star, when Luke destroyed it, 20 years ago. Phasma deserts Luke and infant Rey. She seeks out those who oppose the New Republic, trains and gains experience, in order to avenge her parents. Luke takes Rey, or has her sent, to Jakku, to be watched over by San Tekka, but never told her real identity. Also explains why San Tekka has the crucial piece of Luke's map. Maybe he and Luke drew it up together, knowing that some day, Rey would follow it.

Anyway, the math works. Currently, Luke is 60-ish, Rey is 20-ish, and, at least, the actor playing Phasma is/could be 40-ish. Also worth remembering that the saga has never dragged an unknown in to resolve who someone's parents are. They've always been major characters, there from the beginning. And while Phasma didn't get much screen time in VII, she's supposed to be very big in VIII, without her helmet.

Wish I'd seen your topic a little bit ago, as my reply in http://boards.theforce.net/threads/...s-in-missing-trailer-dialogue.50036368/page-2 would actually fit in better with what you're suggesting. As I said in that topic, when I first saw Rey in her garb with the mask, my first thoughts were that it resembled to an extent the masks of storm troopers. And Phasma's helmet is a variation of storm trooper armor. Some for-shadowing maybe?
