ST Rey's staff has a lightsaber handle in it???

Have you seen it? It looks like it is put together with some interesting pieces, one that looks like a lightsaber in the middle. Look at the new poster of Rey....

 

It´s Plagueis staff.

 

I know from a credible source that it is in fact the cane of Darth Vegas.

 

That looks exactly like a Lightsaber to me. I think the staff is a puzzle left by Luke honestly. He hid a lightsaber in it and knew that when the time had come for her to be a Jedi she would unlock it and the lightsaber would be revealed to her and the force would awaken.

 

The cantina has IG-88 heads.

Kind of looks like the handle of Darth Maul except upside-down.

I'm not saying it is Darth Maul's lightsaber. I just pointed out a similarity.

I can picture a scene where IG88 makes a round of drinks for Boba and his bounty hunter pals with his head.

 

I hope its a one bladed staff saber if it is.

If Rey had a guardian, the staff might have belonged to him/her. The guardian could have trained her to fight for self defense

 

The idea of the staff being a secret lightsabre or whatever completely undermines a core element of the story of TFA: that Rey rejects her destiny. She doesn't have a lightsabre because she doesn't want one.

 

She doesn't even know what one is if the leak is correct. Finn recognizes it when they take it out of BB8 but she says "what is it?". Then Han explains about Jedi etc.
If this is true I think Rey might have been born on Jakku and lived there all her life. She is a total "noob" about everything, but the Force has chosen her. The Force Awakens in Rey.
Personally I prefer Rey to be the daughter of nobody, parents being survivors of the Battle of Jakku. Next theory I prefer is daughter of Luke.
I don't like the daughter of Han and Leia theory, because it's been done. We don't need siblings again. The villain being the one linked to Anakin and all 3 new characters having no link is best in my opinion.

 

This is not the thread for a 'Who are Rey's parents' debate. God only knows we have enough of those...

 

Lightsaber staffs are a thing. There's no reason why it couldn't be one, even if it likely isn't. Rey also reminds me a lot of this Jedi from the TOR trailers:

 

As others have already said, I honestly wouldn't be all that shocked if it turned out to be some sort of lightsaber staff. They already showed off Kylo-Ren's lightsaber so I could definitely see Rey pulling out one of her own for the shock value alone. I've personally always wanted a lightsaber staff to appear in one of the movies since they first appear in the EU.

 

Her staff is a quadra-blade lightsaber. On each end is a double bladed saber that spins like a helicopter. It is known.

 

Personally, I dont want to see any more gimmicky lightsabers.

 

See, I don't see them as "gimmicky". The universe is a varied place, and that should be reflected in everything, including lightsabers. There's nothing wrong with having different styles of them, it means different ways of fighting. I, for one, would love to see light whips in the movies, for example.

 

Rey hits people with the staff. It's not a lightsaber.
