That's cool. I don't begrudge you your preference. I would just like to preserve Obi-Wan's Episode IV description of a lightsaber being a more elegant weapon. I liked Mauls saber, but if everyone has a different saber, his will become less special too. Honestly, Kylo's saber doesn't bother me either. I guess I just don't consider the cross guard thing anything more than an added feature as opposed to a different kind of saber all together.......

 

Why people think that you really need a light saber to be a powerful Jedi?

So a very good Force sensitive,trained properly,would not need a light saber,

I think they wanted to make her staff look like it belonged in the Star Wars universe, so it has that "look" to it. I don't think it was specifically designed to be/look like a lightsaber.

 

The new EW material confirms that it's just a staff! Daisy's heard the Plagueis rumors, too, but she says it's just a staff. Not even a 'cattle-prod' with shock capability.

 

Hah I'm the opposite I'm a total sucker for gimmicky lightsabers most of the time.
