These are nice and cartoony. However, when it comes to crit, I'm afraid my expertise lies mostly in traditional art.

Well, I can't actually draw, which is why they're cartoony! Wish I could but I've never really been too arty! Thankyou for looking though! :D (AND I still have your pictures of Allana to colour in! I've been taking a while as I've been on holiday and also want them to look nice, so I've been spending overtime on them!)

    Hi rhi-sparks! [:D]
    Welcome to Fanarts.

Thrawn/Pellaeon pic: [face_laugh] Pellaeon looks funny.
The only thing I've noticed about it is that their foreheads are too small and the throats too long, but otherwise it's a very nice pic. Like their expressions. :)
Esp Thrawn looks good. We could really need a bit more art of him.

Side view of Thrawn: Don't dare to write "thrawny-boy". :p
He's soo cute here! [face_love] Love the light in his eye and the way you've done his mouth.

Zia: Awww, he looks cute too! [face_love] Love his eyes and his ear, the latter somehow reminds me of an elf.

Isard wallpaper: Wow, that looks great! [face_hypnotized] The font fits perfectly and I like that you've added the Lusankya/Executor to it.

=D= Keep up the good work and hope to see more soon. :)

Zia--very interesting unique creature! I like the detail in the ears and the eyes are nice too!

I agree--the side view of a young-looking Thrawn is kinda cute! Looks good proportion wise as well.

Thrawn/Palleon---LOL I do enjoy Palleon's expression--very nice cartoon rendering of them! I see what Chilla mentioned about the foreheads and throats, but they kinda remind me of "American Dad" cartoon...

Isard--I really like the cris-cross scratch background--seems to fit the character well. The only crit I have for this is there might be too much negative space, but I like the elements in it!

Hello Rhi, and allow me to add my welcome to Fan Art!

I'm afraid I have to disagree with your grim assessment of your drawing skills--animated style is not separate from realistic in terms of the ability--both require different types of "seeing" and rendering, but it's all drawing! ;) And for what it's worth, I can't do this "cartoon" style to save my soul, lol! Oh, to have taken a class in animation-styles! :D

I like the style of these--not quite anime, but definitely in the animated-type genre: great expressions on all of them (particularly liking Pellaeon's expression, and Thrawn sort of looking "sideways" at us!). Your OC is very interesting: nice detailing on him, especially in th eyes, and again, a great expression. I also like the w/p--we don't see much of Ysanne, and it's cool to see this one of her in uniform and not--nice images here. Very good work, and I hope you keep on posting (would love to see some of your Jacen stuff, btw--I'm sure it's not as awful as you think! ;) )!

    Thankyou Falcon!
No my drawings are atrocious I'm afraid!
I'm better with vectors, and wallpapers.
I shall try and make more SW vexels and vectors... All the ones I have are non-SW related so aren't really appropriate for the TFN! :D
    Thankyou all for looking!

Well Falcon, you said you wanted to see one of my drawings...
I'll show you a Thrawn from quite a while ago... I drew it sort of quickly-ish so that I could draw it again but have a reference type for an Imperial uniform... (Well the one he wears).
    (Please don't laugh!)
    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/thesweetchildren/DSC00133thrawn.jpg]

Well there we go. I'm not a good drawer by ANY standard, but hopefully if I post that you guys could help a little! :D

For saying you can't draw very well, that's actually not too bad---proportions a little off (mine are too!! check out my drawings...hehe) but I do like the uniform!:)

Yeah my proportions are always a little... SQUIFFY for lack of a better word!
Funny you should say that, I was just looking at your daffodils Fett!

Thank you! ;) They are now on their way to Tucson--mom and stepdad pretty much commissioned me to make them for his mom.

I'd like to see some more of your non-drawing stuff too--Thrawn's a pretty cool character!

I have a few Thrawn jobs in the pipeline seeming as my friends are all away and there's nothing else to do!
    :D
He is my favourite SW character.... Emperor Palps coming in a close second. Then Spiker and Gix, then the Mando duo themselves Jango and Boba!

Oh Rhi--I never laugh! ;) Seriously--every effort is praiseworthy, if for nothing else than that you took a stab at it!! And with drawing--as with many, many things in life--the more times you "take a stab at it," the better you get! :D

This is actually very nice: FettFan79 speaks the truth about the proportions being a little off, but this is something that's actually pretty easy to learn. I know of some great reference sites I could steer you to, if you're interested--they have general guides for proper body and facial proportions, and I myself use copies of a lot of those references when I draw. Just let me know, and I'll point you that way! ;)

The linework is very clean--something that really helps define the piece--and the detailing of the uniform is wonderful. I really like the way his pants fit into his boots, and the way you've outlined what appears to be the "shading lines" on those boots. Legs and feet give me fits, but yours actually look very good! ;) A good effort, and a nice representation of our favorite Grand Admiral!

Keep up with your drawing! And don't be afraid to use photographs for references, too--to help with body proportions, hands and faces. I do a lot of work from photos I find in magazines and catalogs (I have a lot of them just stacked around and look through them when I need a reference! ;) )--it's a good way to train your eyes to "see," then to translate that into drawings from your hands. See if you can find a face that just looks "Thrawn" to you, and use that as a reference to draw him, adding in what you need to turn it into Thrawn (ie., that perfectly coiffed hair and his natty uniform! ;) ). It's a good exercise--give it a go!
And we'll be looking forward to your next posts!

Ooh could I get those sites? And thanks so much for your advice Falcon, it's really appreciated! :)
I always find it hard to find pictures I think look like Thrawn... Maybe I'm too picky! :p

Right. A WIP. Which means if it's in colouring pencils as I find my blue tac like eraser is nicer to them than smudgy pencils. (Damn my left handedness! :p)
So... Yes. Feel free to critique and help me! :D

Hey rhi--I'll be sending all my favorite reference sites via PM (since the stupid board won't let me post them here...grrrr...). I hope they help!

On your newest Thrawn--very good start! And not to worry about "lefthandedness;" just try to work from the right to the left on your drawings, or even from the lower right corner to the upper left (this is once you've gotten the rough sketch down, that is! :p ). Another trick is to securely clip a clean piece of paper over the areas you've already shaded/worked on--I use spring clips for this--this should also help with the "smudginess!" And truthfully, I think we all "clean up" with the eraser when we finish something--it's just a necessary part of the drawing process! ;) I really like the portrait--good "Thrawny" square jaw, and his typical stern expression. Watch the shadowing--you're very good at making sure to put it in, which gives great depth--but be sure that all the shadowing is indicating the same light source. On the current work, the shadow line on the right side of the face indicates a strong light from his left, which would also put the right side of his nose in shadow, rather than having the shadow fall under the nose. A good exercise to see this would be to stand in front of a mirror with a small unshaded lamp (a flashlight will work in a pinch)--move that light source around (up, down, left and right) and watch where the shadows fall on your own face--this will help you to learn about facial contours and shadowing with a light from specific directions. Not a perfect exercise (there will be some bounced light from the mirror), but it'll help you to see how facial shadows will fall. This looks like it's going to turn out great--can't wait to see it finished!

Heh thankyou very much! That'll actually be a handy tip...
It's not a finished drawing at least, in fact he has no neck... Well not a proper neck! So I can rub it out with the squidgy rubber and then base the shadowing offa my face. Even if I'm not stern jawed...

Oooo!! Excellent Thrawn w/p, rhi! Wonderful composition, and great elements to include--the eye moves very easily around the frame here, and there's so much to see! Both images of Thrawn are superb--where ever did you find them? I don't think I've ever seen either of those before, and they're great, particularly for this piece. Nice, nice work!

    He he!
    [face_blush]
Well I spent the longest on the Thrawn one, as my friend and I use it for our own desktops.
The others were for someone else, and I hate the Solo Children one, but thought I'd put it up anyway. I found it whilst searching for some pictures on my computer, and it's pretty old (you can really tell!)
    :D

The pictures are of the Thrawn one, are the art for Outbound Flight... I love these pictures- Thrawn looks so handsome on them! [face_love]

I've had some problems with Photobucket- they only add 1 MB uploads- a lot of my wallpapers exceed that, so I've had to compress the images a little giving a slightly grainy effect.
    Pfft.
Well I did the "Swoop Scum" team from the comic, "The Jabba Tape" set shortly after Han breaking free from the mould (bad joke...) and Jabba getting killed by Leia in a bikini...
    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/thesweetchildren/swoopscum2.jpg]

Spiker is a Chiss, Glix is.... I have no idea what Glix is, and their little buddy was looking after Jabba's ship which they stole...

Swoop Scum are just asking for trouble there!
    :D

I made this for the Chiss fan club, who until recently hadn't heard of Spiker.
    I made sure they did!

    Sorry about that!

Heehee!! "Swoop Scum" is great! I'm not familiar with the comic, but it looks pretty interesting--and your title is wonderful! You might want to go ahead and close your link (you missed the ending ] to close it for a thumbnail)--otherwise we have to copy-and-paste. Keep up the great work!

    Right...
I spent ages drawing this picture.
And this picture is just the guidelines for inking on photoshop.
    [face_tired]
    IT'S MARIS.
    YES. FROM OUTBOUND FLIGHT.
I saw a picture of a woman in a magazine, and decided to cartoonify her and make her get out of that stupid poofy dress she was wearing. It's also magnified as the woman was decidedly tiny (think 100x100 pixels puny.)
    [image=http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b147/thesweetchildren/DSC00177.jpg]
I am now going to spend AGES colouring her so that it doesn't look so cartoony like my other stuff. I might vector her in, as I'm generally good with that although I usually work on Non-SW stuff, so I don't know if I can post it...
