Ya just because I have TFA last on my list doesn't mean I don't like it. I just don't like it as much as the others.
He did say it, but he was joking.

@rianjohnson love the #StarWarsTheLastJedi title!! Just curious, is the red wording just for the poster, or will the opening words be red 2?

@adamhlavac No, we cut on AVID. That's Adam who assembles temp effects for us, he works in after effects.

Rian is perhaps the most entertaining SW director of the whole bunch.

He says TLJ tone is fun. So much for people reading doom and gloom from the title. :)

Yeah I think I read a tweet of his that said the Title announcement in Red was more or less just a gimmick. I believe he went on to say that the crawl would not be in red.

RJ does enjoy tweeting and having fun though. The wall of meat metaphor he tweeted a few days ago was rather funny.

Red on black crawl would be insufferable on eyes.

Agreed. It's nice as a small change for the poster. But yellow and black is a much better combination.

I don’t think the opening crawl being a different colour was ever in question, IMO. However, I hope the red font stays for other marketing materials and the Blu Ray cover and whatnot.

IIRC, they had a version of the TFA script red on black, which Anthony Daniels said was basically impossible to read.

Name three non-Star Wars films you watched in preparation.

Twelve O’Clock High was a big touchstone, for the feel and look of the aerial combat as well as the dynamic between the pilots. Three Outlaw Samurai for the feel of the sword-fighting, and the general sense of pulpy fun. And To Catch A Thief was a great film to rewatch, for the romantic scale and grandeur.

That was my biggest take away. In case anyone was wondering, The Last Jedi will in fact involve both lightsaber fights and spaceship-on-spaceship action.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a Star Wars movie on our hands.

Mhm. He and Gareth Edwards traded cameos; the latter appears in The Last Jedi as a Resistance soldier.

That's good to hear. After hearing all these rumors I was beginning to think he might be directing the sequel to the Muppets. :p

OMG, Rian spoiled the movie! Woo-hoo!

    12 O'clock High = Poe (war)
3 Outlaw Samurai = Luke, Rey, Kylo (Jedi stuff...they are base don the samurai so...)
To Catch a Thief = Finn and KMT (romance)

To Catch a Thief even has a coastal old town location similar to Dubrovnik.

I definitely see the influence of TCAF on the Dubrovnik location.

PymParticles I know, right? And it's gonna look so damn beautiful. "Samurai" in Ireland. "Thieves" in Dubrovnik. Pilots in space. Throw in promised amazing cinematography and it's gonna blow minds.

Yeah, I'm rapidly reaching the dangerous point where I'm very close to thinking, "There's no way this won't be my favorite Star Wars movie," and I've yet to see a single frame.
