Hilariously that idiot has now double-down and is moaning about it being sad that SW fans have to hit back at the criticism. Yes, the fans do get defensive, but that's specifically not what happened there.

 

Fandom is fundom. They'll never make up their mind about what they want. On one hand, they criticize TFA as too derivative of ANH and express concern that TLJ is going to be just like ESB. OTOH, they are demanding "I am your father" type of a reveal, for example. It's basically "I hate it that ST is so similar to OT except when it comes to plot point that I personally want to happen. In that case, screw originality."

 

That's today's social media culture for you. People say the most bizarre things to other people's faces these days.

I feel like most people have forgotten they're interacting with real human beings on the internet.

 

I think the problem is that the bar of 'it's a rehash of ESB' has been set very low and if you're operating with the intent to find as many links as you can, then like a self-fufilling prophecy you're going to see it as rehash. Even if it means ignoring large parts of the movie in order to do so. We saw the same thing with TFA.

 

There is a video that explained that TFA is the combination of the 3 movies of the original trilogy... but people it seems that they are too obssesed with the elements ANH and they are not capable of see more than that, they cant see the main plot of TFA which is very different of ANH or the other two movies of the OT. People focus in the things that they want to focus

TBH, I hope not. The only Jedi in cannon so far who was supposedly able to channel the Dark-Side and without succumbing to it was Mace Windu, due to his proficiency in Vaapad (form VII), and we all know how that ended for him...

Luke expressing doubts about the viability of the Jedi Order after multiple instances of heartbreak is one thing, but I'd rather he not actually use the Dark-Side.

In all fairness to the Legends-verse though, the real issue here is me not liking the Grey-Jedi concept.

 

Grey jedi concept? this i do not like. Tapping in the dark side should come with a price, the light & the dark are not items you choose at your local supermarket. Did anyone pay attention to the last 7 SW films?

 

I think it's less about tapping into the dark side, and learning that anger and fear are human emotions that shouldn't have to lead to the dark side. Grey Jedi is not happening. Neither is the whole anti-hero thing.
