    what?
A behind-the-scenes video showed Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Mark Hamill scampering up and down Skellig’s steep hillside and shooting scenes in Oscar-winning production designer Rick Heinrich’s breathlessly cantilevered Jedi village suspended 700 feet above the surf.

What I think might be the case for that is confusion between actual Skellig Michael and the recreation they built at Pinewood. I kind of get the feeling that the only scene they shot at the island itself was the continuation of the initial Luke/Rey meeting in order to maintain consistency with the ending of TFA, and everything else was done on the recreated set. And since we know Mark Hamill visited the Canto Bight set, even though it doesn't appear as if he has any scenes in that location, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Boyega or Isaac to take a look around, because I can't imagine them taking non-essential personnel to Skellig Michael.

Or maybe they do have scenes there and I'm completely overthinking it.

Maybe the writer got confused, or maybe they were there for a Force vision.

Or maybe they actually go there? There is much we don’t know about.

Lots of other people were there at the conference. It would be helpful to have more than single sourcing.

Canto Bight (exteriors) must really be something special, as Rian seems to be keeping it out of almost all the promotional material.

Agreed, just those few images are amazing. Cannot wait to see more of the aliens and creature designs.

I think he really wants that section of the movie to be fresh for the audience. Including hardcore Star Wars fans.

Best guess is that its gotta be KOTOR.

It sounds to me like it might be an anthology-esque type of deal.

The Last Jedi must be REALLY good. They dont wanna risk another situation with directors they gotta fire or movies they gotta re-shoot/rewrite. Rian Johnson is the perfect person for the new Star Wars movies, The Last Jedi is gonna be the best SW film since Empire Strikes Back, and Lucasfilm aint letting him go for the next 10 years.

He must’ve knocked TLJ out of the ****ing park considering how much they love him at Lucasfilm. This is really exciting.

This is clearly a major vote of confidence from Lucasfilm for Johnson. In terms of timeline, I'm hoping for distant past or distant future, although there's also a ton of unexplored territory right now in between ROTJ and TFA.

It's not that uncommon for studios to do this actually. WB announced that Zack Snyder would be making Justice League before Batman v. Superman came out for example.

KOTOR might be the popular opinion, but that would bring a preconceived set of fan expectations, so I doubt it. But what about the origins of the Force? We're clearly getting some big time mythologizing in TLJ, and Rian spearheading a new trilogy would be a great way to explore that further.
