Yup, Danny McBride...

 

I don't want to see that, but I would pay to see McBride vs. Predator.

 

Hopefully he gets torn apart by a pack of xenomorphs early on and we get to see it in detail and every once in awhile the characters say "Don't do that, remember what happened to Danny McBride?" and then cut back to him still being torn apart.

 

When a notification comes up for this thread, I dread coming in because of more bad news.

 

I'm still on board, goddamnit! It would take a load-lifter to move me out of my Alien fandom. Hell, Paul Riser is awesome in Aliens and Cameron hired him with zero idea he was a standup. Optimism, yay! (and I say this as someone for whom Danny McBride makes my teeth itch.)

 

He'll probably turn in a good performance just to **** with us.

 

As long as his character is well written I'm sure he can put a decent performance.

Also Deadline mentions that Noomi Rapace is in the cast, and I generally take trades like Deadline at their word. Now, will she have a big part or be in it very long? I kinda doubt that but you need to know what happened to Shaw if David is in the goddamn thing.

 

He was great in The Bridge.

 

Had to Google that, he was in the American Bridge not the original Swedish Bridge.

There seems to be so many 'knock off' versions!

Weyland-Yutani is officially a thing now. Guess that Prometheus mission by Peter was a bit of a money sinkhole. And what with the CEO's dying and all.

 

Hold on a sec, I thought Weyland merged with Yutani sometime between Alien and Aliens, right? And Alien: Covenant takes place 10 years after Prometheus, which is still before Alien...

Anyone remember that time when the Yutani Corporation appeared at the end of AVPR? I thought that was going to go somewhere but it just amounted to non canon.


I still don't know about this. Why call it Alien if it is a Promethues sequel?

Perhaps because Covenant is closer both thematically and chronologically to Alien? Not that it matters really, imo Prometheus is an Alien movie anyway.

 

Because of audience recognization of the Alien brand name.

 

6 years later I'm still waiting for a sequel to Predators. They leave it on a cliffhanger!
I know we are getting a reboot by Shane Black but I want to see the Predators survivors story.

Promethues only feels like yesterday but it was 4 years ago!

 

Weyland-Yutani is the company in Alien, just nobody says it and the logo is different. (and apparently it's missing the "d" if you look closely enough, it goes by Weylan-Yutani)

The company's original name was Weylan-Yutani, briefly seen on a monitor and Aspen Beer can in the film Alien; this name was created by Ron Cobb, one of the designers of the Nostromo and its crew's uniforms. In the film, the company's logo consisted of a winged sun emblem, based on Egyptian architecture. The original Weylan-Yutani name was also used by James Cameron in his initial treatment for a sequel to Alien



Cameron took it and, god bless him, ran with it. gave them the slogan "building better worlds", different logo, added the "d" and then it became Weyland, etc.

So logo in Covenant is different from the Alien logo, which is different from the Aliens logo, etc....

But, yes, Weyland-Yutani (give or take a d) is around by Alien. Just No Prize that The Company was so damn cheap they didn't add the "d" to the labels on the Nostromo. Or Ash scraped it off the "d" because of Evil Robot Plan #55y6562

As for the Weyland and Yutani of AVP. Hey, they're corporations! Things change / merge / different bosses, etc. etc.
