I can't wait for everyone to be disappointed by this.

 

Short List magazine - some free thing given out every Thursday on my way to work - reckons Prometheus will not disappoint.

Their logic?

That Ridley Scott has cast the Prometheus star, Michael Fassbender, to star in his next film, "so something must have gone right".

Time will tell, I guess.

 

sounds like a pretty dopey magazine.

and evertans, if it is disappointing, that will be okay with me. it is more likely that it will be disappointing than really good. the odds are against it. i mean sir ripley scott is still a very strong visual filmmaker, so i know that aspect will be good. but he is also now a smug cigar hubris man, and like the emperor, his overconfidence is his weakness. so if it is disappointing, i will say to myself, "well, one can't catch lightning in a bottle twice in the same place" and if it is really good, then i will say to myself "miracles really do happen!" and celebrate by killing A LOT OF PEOPLE.

 

Quite frankly, that Fassbender is involved at all makes me want to see it even more. The only way it could get any better is if the Space Jockeys turned out to be Nazis.

don't get me wrong, i really like fassbender, but i don't think he can make this film good all by himself.
