What's a varde?

 

Its Quenya- vanya varde means
"beatiful maiden".

varde was an early version of Quenya. Its more of the root form that Tolkien created. Where did you get your dictionary?? Thats awsome to have.e

The dictionary was with the lessons...I think I put a link a while back but I'm too lazy to go find it again. It's really small. There's another one too from somewhere else that's longer but not as accurate, but that doesn't have varde in it either I think. But there are so many versions of Elvin out there, because people have tried to make it more speakeable by adding vocabulary, but they didn't always make up vocabulary together, so there are different words for the same thing and stuff.

 

I know what you mean. But the sight I get my Elven info from is strait from Chris Tolkien.

Most intriguing character?

Being a monster fan I found the Orcs to be extremely interesting. Ugluk and Grishnakh and their power struggle. I really loved that Tolkien brought Smeagol back into the story. He was my favorite character, next to Smaug from "The Hobbit". The Witch King is a favorite of mine too.

As far as the good are concerned... I'd have to pick Samwise, Eowyn and Elrond.

 

I would have to say Strider/Aragon. He is so mysterious and you don't know if you should trust him in the beginning.

 

Gollum/Smeagol.

definitely.

 

Legolas is the best.

 

Gandalf, then Treebeard and Bombadil.

 

oh yeah, and I would have to say Gollum for the "bad guys".

 

Bombadil is certainly the most interesting, since we know so little about him (and because HE ROCKS!! : ) )

After that, Aragorn, Feanor (wish he'd had a bigger part, which I know, is asking a lot), and Gandalf (ditto, wished he blown some orcs away as the white rider) and Elendil.

Another interesting character is Mandos (God of Justice) Never quite understood why he doesn't do more to prevent all the stuff that happens, considering how much he knows of the future...though I guess he does have a certain responsibilty..still, why allow the Trees to die!!!

(sigh...) Just for the heck of it, I'd like read an AU where that DOESN't happen...

 

Guess what!!! I looked up stuff in my dictionary and figured out how to say "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" in Quenya! It is:

Anda lúmë yá, mi nomë haira, vahaira...

I might have done something wrong...please tell me if you know. Actually, there's no word for galaxy so it really says "A long time ago in a place far, far away," but oh well.
