RIP Whitney Houston

Well, here we go.

A week ago the press template on WH was 'pathetic has-been'. Now she's the 'Queen of Pop' (won't *touch* that one). Yes, it's too damn bad, etc. But the press inflates things completely.

I guess it's the same old story; death can be a good career move.

 

Can't wait for her duet with Amy Winehouse.

 

harps and those others giving Brown a pass, my take: yes she was a grown woman who was primarily responsible for her own well being. She chose to be with Brown, she chose to start boozing, she chose to start puffing on the crack pipe.

But don't exonerate Brown. He made choices too, and chose not only to to be self-destructive, but to exert a destructive influence over someone. Far more than that, he was, by all accounts, also abusive, which also has to be taken into consideration. WH takes primary blame for what she did to herself, but that by no means let's him off the hook.

 

Brown by no means put a gun to her head and made her do drugs, but given her upbringing, he was a majour influence on her decision making when it came to her taking drugs.

It's sad more than anything, but she was a grown woman, and should have taken better care of herself. I hope she's at peace, the real losers in this situation are her kids, I hope they get proper care after all of this.

 

Her daughter had to be taken to the hospital after suffering a breakdown when she was told.

Tony Bennett was pretty direct about her voice: "Whitney Houston was the greatest singer I've ever heard."

As for apportioning blame, when you get down to it, we rarely know much about who celebrities really are. When WH shot to fame, a big part of it was her image as a somewhat down-to.earth, clean-cut woman. Who knows how true that was. I'm sure there was some image-polishing going on. But, to the extent it was true, it does push more culpability on Brown, in as much she might have been somewhat naive and thus easily influenced.

 

I doubt it... her family was in the music business. I mean, her godmother is Aretha Franklin. She's been around the music business for most of her life. I seriously doubt she was naive.

Anyway, it really doesn't matter who is to "blame." She ****ed her life and career up with drugs, period.

 

As far as I know, Madonna has always been the "Queen of Pop", but whatever. It was sad to get online on Saturday evening and find out about WH's death. Given her history with drug abuse, I shouldn't have been surprised, but I still was. RIP Whitney.

 

I heard that Madonna was the original choice for the role in that Bodyguard film but was passed up for Whitney Houston after having insulted Kevin Costner somehow. Anybody know if that's true?

 

He also wants to "legalize drugs," because celebrities can't get any legal prescription they want, and as we all know the Volstead Act is still in force. And really, if stuff like crack were legal, addicts totally wouldn't die 'cause... uh...

 

I heard that Whitney Houston recently filmed two new movies, which haven't come out yet. Anyone else know about this?

I don't know if Madonna was up for the role, but she did insult him by making fun of him saying she was neat in her Truth or Dare video.

 

Is there word yet on whether that Tiawanese kid is going to sing at her funeral?

Apparently someone on CNN said this could turn into a murder investigation? That someone gave her the pills, and then drowned her? It sounds like a stretch to me, but anyone else know where this rumor is coming from?
