I'm gonna take a different route than all of you and say he meant "imagine no possessions" as an exaggerated proposition, and just meant "imagine minimizing your physical possessions and your emotional attachments to them."

It's a pop song, not an academic article.

What if I stole someone's heart? What then? What if they stole my heart?

Does a song have to be literally feasible as a means of government for it to be a great song?

yes, this is why rihanna's "umbrella" is the pinnacle of songwriting. soon we will live in a nation where no one ever gets wet.

Hey, at least her plan is feasible. If I were to stand under her umbrella I would indeed stay dry

well i don't think that really gels with kant's formula of universal law, unless she has a really big umbrella.

    My Grandad got burgled once.
The thief made away with some costume jewelry that was worthless, an odd pair of shoes and a bunch of bananas.

    He's never been robbed since.

I don't begrudge someone for choosing a light-hearted topic to compose around. I do hold them accountable for presuming to tackle a weighty subject and mangling it through the shoddiness of their analysis and general output.
