Robert Downey Jr. is SHERLOCK HOLMES (A Game of Shadows)

Here it is. Looks a lot more comedic than I would have expected. then again, they might be overemphasizing it for the trailer. I just hope it doesn't turn into two hours of constant, neverending, lame jokes (*sneeze*Transformers!*sneeze*) and actually manages to be an honest tribute to Arthur Conan Doyle's character.

We'll see, I guess.

I'll admit that I was skeptical about RDJ playing Holmes at first, but I think things are going to turn out alright.

 

So far I'm still mostly interested in this film because of Downey.

Also, note to everyone in the film business: ENOUGH with the ****** slow-motion close-ups of people getting punched in the face!!

 

It's not Doyle's Holmes, but it is an interesting interpretation. I'll see it.

 

Yeah, seriously? Speed ramping footage is getting old and it most definitely doesn't work for this type of movie.

 

Supposedly the speed ramping isn't part of the actual action, but is intercut in one scene as Sherlock Holmes is explaining to someone how he will knock him down in a brief series of hits

 

Oh my God, they turned him into an action hero with a lame sense of humour!

He's definitely NOT Doyle's Holmes.



I quite like Jude Law as Watson, though.

 

There are many interpretations of Holmes. Some I've read have made him more action-hero than others. Having action doesn't make it bad.

 

Well you can always wait for the Will Ferrell adaptation.

 

But this is way over the top. Holmes didn't like violence and only used physical force as a last resort. By the look of the trailer it's going to be another cliché Hollywood action film with the main characters called Holmes and Watson.

 

Hey, his drug addiction could have really messed him up. I mean, Dr. House is based upon him, after all.

He is wearing the incorrect hat. This will be a disaster.

 

Forget the hat, he's actually shorter than Watson!

For those who don't know, this is actually based on a comic book; either a miniseries or a graphic novel. That might explain why it seems like a more supernatual story. I'm not a big Holmes fan, but was there ever any supernatural elements to the story?

Yeah, most of the stories have a supernatural feel...until the end when Holmes exposes it as perfectly logical.

 

So I take it that's where Scooby Doo got it.

So Guy Ritchie is amazing.

 

The movie was great, imo. The comments about Sherlock Holmes stories fit in well, it seems.
