Jason pushed open the double doors to the newly coined [i]Rocketjock Eatery[/i]. It was an easy sale, considering he's the Game Master and you can do what you want...right? [face_tongue] So much work still needed to be done, however. The outside had been fixed up nicely, with a double sided blue lighted sigh reading, [i][u]ROCKETJOCK EATERY[/u][/i], just above the door on a small out-stretched pole, so as to show both ways on the sidewalk. There was a single large window looking out towards the other parts of Port Haven to the right of the double doors and the outside of the building was of red brick, with the double doors being white.

On the inside, where Jason now stood, it was dark, but after finding a series of various light switches to the right side of the door and switching it on, he nodded his head approvingly. The place was large, clean, but empty, aside from a few things. So he hoped his fellow GMs and players had some ideas about how to make the place look nice.

Some of those "few things" included a half-circle table establishment to his left up against the wall with seven round stools around it and a little half door facing Jason's way to allow whoever was behind there out. There was also a doorway, with a gray curtain covering it, that lead back into what Jason assumed was the kitchen area, since there was a long open slot in the wall for putting food dishes so the waiter could pick them up (the slot was to the right of the half-circle table). In the back of the kitchen, should be the eatery's extensively modified (with tons of added recipes) cooking droid ([link=http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/COO-series_cook_droid]COO cook droid[/link]); although Jason fully expected some of the patrons to want to cook they're own food, it didn't hurt to have a COO cook droid on hand just in case.

Jason nodded with a smile at the two signs that were posted above the doorway into the kitchen, which read, [i]NO ALCOHOL SERVED HERE[/i] and [i]NO BLASTERS ALLOWED[/i].

Along the opposite wall of the eatery, or the right wall, was a series of medium sized windows, seven in all, that ran the length of the wall. Jason did notice that they needed some window curtains for those windows. Along the back wall of the eatery was a rounded stage that jetted out from the wall. Several lights on a silver truss hung down to encircle whoever the brave souls would be to take the stage up for a night of entertainment. Jason also noted a large holoprojector ([link=http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/CS-Mark_12_holoprojector]CS-Mark 12 holoprojector[/link]) to the right of the stage and a little bit removed from the corner---so it seemed that the patrons could watch entertainment as well, maybe a holovid or other show.

To the left of the stage was a standard emergency door.

In the middle of the eatery was one lar

I'm going to christen this with a comment I had earmarked for Facebook: "Although I reciprocated, I have no idea who waved at me from that car as I turned into my road last night...just a silhouette with a hand."

OOC: So, yeah, nice place. Good to have a place to socialise. One question - if for instance, I have spent some time writing up a post for another game, am I allowed to comment on it here, or would that be considered 'not the done thing'?

I have arrived and just enjoyed a beautiful day here on the ranch. There's my .02 cents for this thread and you'll be hearing from me a lot more. Looking forward to watching Ken Burns' "The Civil War" on PBS tonight.

And hello to Bravo, Grey, and Sith I-5, great people all of you.

To answer Sithy's question from a modly perspective - general off-topic chatter is of course allowed, but we would prefer it if you talked about mostly Intervention in this thread (we already have three general social threads, after all). We won't be anal about this, though. Trusting you guys to not abuse the privilege of having your own OOC thread, here... :D

[face_laugh] You always got a classic one-liner, Sith. All the time. Good job.

Yeah, Sith, what Xan said. She's the boss, after all. ;)

However, from a GM point of view, if you feel like that post could influence a post your doing for Intervention, then it can be discussed here (i.e. bouncing off ideas to see if a similar idea could work in this game).

*Holds up hands* Now, Xan, no shooting. I was just adding my two cents... [face_worried] :p

 Are you a American Civil War fan like me, L_V? [face_praying] I am a HUGE Civil War nut case. :D I went to Gettsyburg. Cold Harbor, and Gaines' Mill in the summer of 2009. I have Ken Burns' "The Civil War" as well, and a few other movies on the American Civil War. In fact, a nice little tie in to the game, is the fact that you will see some aspects of the American Civil War introduced into the later stages of this game and highlighted even more in the second game. :D

Does anyone have any bright ideas of what we're going to fill the middle of this place with? I was thinking a couch or two for starters...

Just here to voice my concurrence with my fellow mod - an OOC/OOG thread is not meant for the same socializing you would engage in at Hooper's or the Social Thread at the End of the Galaxy. :)

That being said, this is the place for all things Intervention!

Will Feav become a 'Ghost in the Shell'? :p

Who will become the 'human' Guardian? :-B ( I'll buy a clue for 500!)

So, I am not totally confident about what these threads are there for and not, so please forgive me if my post is in any way inappropriate. But surely it is about INTERVENTION, so I guess this is a good place. Actually I was about to write Bravo a PM, when I stumbled on this group. So why not do it in public.

Those few who know me, know I am an occassional guest (at best) on these boards. English is not my native tongue, so I usually don´t join more than one game or two around here and . . . usually those are GMed by me close friends. But I lurk a bit here and there and read for the fun of reading. My job allows me to do a lot of that, lately. And funny enough, I stumbled over Inervention and from time to time I read through it. i enjoyed the summary, too. It actually stuck with me, somehow. You got really a good game with a very attractive storyline there.

Funny thing is, beyond the games I was in I had that "need to read" with only one other game. Jedi Outcasts. I was quite a bit surprised when I was told that it was partly by the same people with different socks. :p So, yeah. Consider me a bit of a fan of yours.

Who knows, if I feel like gaming one day and find time and space (and actually the ability to pick up your story, which seems to progress a lot) I might ask for the permittance to join. Maybe in that sequel I read about. Anyway, until then . . . I´ll be lurking and thank you for the good read.

The best luck and great fun with your game guys (and girls?)

    Mel

    Sweet chat room!

*Walks into the room with a clip board and pencil*
"Okay as a past paint and interior decor specialist, I am taking charge of room design. We'll have couches here, and here. Pool table there, and the bar will be on that wall, but that will only happen after we paint. These are the colors I've picked out, Bravo I need 10 gallons of the first and 6 of the second, and be quick about it, the furniture will be here in two days, so we need to get star....ted......."
*Looks around at everyone staring at him*
"What! It was a good paying job."

You know Grey, I'm really stuck on that one. :p I kind of like the direction I have planned for Taller without his legs. But, in the same breath, your post you sent IC to Mon Mothma was PRICELESS and I just can't ignore such a strong voice for justice! Maybe the second game? [face_thinking] I don't know, we'll see what the Lord Jesus Christ has planned on that one.

Well, technically the Guardians are the protectors / messengers over the beings of the galaxy (the connection to angels in the Holy Bible). So no 'human' would become a Guardian. But don't worry about the misunderstanding, it was a lot of information I posted through the Qui-Gon_Jinn_Ghost sock, and misunderstandings will happen. :)

Now, the 'human' your referring to would be the one selected to The Council of twelve beings from the galaxy (a very loose connection---and NOT meant as a precise parallel---to the Pharisees in the New Testament and the Apostles). The Lord is still working with me on that one and I'm not 100% sure where He's taking me on it. I have a general idea of where I want it to go for the rest of this game and start of the second game, but beyond that, and the tiny details from now until the beginning of the second game, I'm still waiting to see what the Lord does.

Thank you. [face_blush] I hope you continue to read Intervention and maybe, someday, even join. :)

[face_laugh] HJ, I know you love wearing the white painter's hat and those pants (did you get a free bowl of soup with those? :p...Caddyshack, 1980 , I'm pretty sure), but ONE thing at a time. ;) Didn't you ever hear that sharing with one another was the right thing to do? :p

    Can't blame a greyjedi for trying. ;) ( yeah, I guess I did get it mixed up! ) [face_plain]

And a bit of OOG here. I ask that we take a moment to either meditate or say a prayer for our brothers and sisters in the RPF who are abroad, specifically in the armed forces or related professions. Some are in Japan and others in war torn countries.

Please pray for their protection and their safe return. ( Not being Debby Downer, but a bit of a reality checker. We have friends/loved ones who we cannot help physically, but we can at least 'intercede' on their behalf). [face_praying]

...and now, I have to go battle with my posts and my spellchecker which keeps changing my words. Oy!! wish me luck. [face_coffee] :-B

It was good soup thank you very much,[face_frustrated] lol. and I will share...as soon as you get that paint, I promise to give everyone brushes and rollers.....and if you're all really nice, I might might even hand out hats.:p

Well as it so happens Gray I specilize in more then just home decor, but also interior design, construction, demolition, and arson. You might call me a Jack of all trades.[face_devil]

On another note I did hear from Dreamstar and Masterponta folks. They are doing all right, busy of course, but all right. Gray is right, they and others need prayers. Life is full of twists and turns, and they are getting a hand full of them these days.

And on a personal whining note...Yesterday a 40min, $2 grease job to the car's brake pads, finished up and turned out to be a 4hr, $80 new rotor job for the front end......Life, ifs full of all kinds of surprises.

You can keep the hat. :p

Yep, been there done that. :p I had to get brakes on my vehicle two weeks ago, at least the front brakes.

You know, Trimaj, Intervention was and still is very challenging for me. Before this game, I had RPed my Jim Palso character with the Jedi Outcasts from 2004 to 2009 and that was all I really did (two others games and that was it, but I never finished either one). And despite my earlier characters from WOTG and some other games, my Jim Palso character was and, maybe, still is my favorite.

It took me a very long time to get into Rick Taller (and Terrel Vacks and Chris Street before I handed them to Grey and Mitth), and even longer to get use to my Jason Lasso character. Jim Palso was a different character for a different time of my life, but I still hold true to a lot of those character's characteristics...and Jason Lasso is a different character for this time in my life. And now, finally, I'm getting some time to RP my Jason Lasso character like I want to, but being a GM, sometimes you don't get to have that fun. But now, man, am I enjoying RPing with Lasso. There's so much I want to do with the character! :-B

Okay, so some game business here. [face_beatup] Don't start shooting me now. [face_tongue] I'm still planning the Game Awards (I want to wait for DREAMSTAR AND M_P to get back before I start them).

So the business we need to discuss. [i]Intervention[/i] is rapidly growing in size in terms of storyline telling. And as I shared in a PM with two other players yesterday, I'm reading everyone's posts, doing my GM stuff, RPing Jason Lasso, RPing the Imperial storyline and "The Council" storyline, setting up for a second game, and starting two separate missions out of Port Haven (oh, and I work two part time jobs [face_wink] ). So, to say the least, I'm stretched thin. And both greyjedi125 and Mitth_Fisto are tied up running Three Flight and One Flight's missions. So, as GMs, we're all stretched thin right now.

So, just FYI, [b]Sith-I-5[/b] will be running up one of the missions out of Port Haven. He has [i]full[/i] Game Master ability, so please respect what he says. But, his GM power is [u]temporary[/u], specific to the mission he will be leading.

If future events like this come up again (where all the GMs are tied up and I need to ask another player to lead a mission), greyjedi125, Mitth_Fisto, and myself will discuss possibly bringing on an additional Assistant Game Master. But I'll need to talk with the other GMs first, before we make anything official. Our criteria for a Game Master is a bit tough, so if you don't get chosen for it, its not because something you did or didn't do, its because we need to make sure whoever fills those GM's shoes can do the job we need done. Greyjedi125 and Mitth_Fisto work they're butts off and I expect nothing less then their effort copied. So, yeah, its tough.

    OKAY, SO SOME BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

At least, if your like me, and love to RP character interaction and not just have battles every five minutes. :p If you like battles every five minutes...too bad. :p Just kidding. ;)

So, this is a promise! The convoy mission has been a blast, it really has, going way beyond anything I could have thought of! Great job everyone! =D= But man, was/is it a lot of work. [face_beatup]

Just before this current mission, we did some character interaction stuff at Port Haven. It was quick, but gave everyone some time to relax and mingle with each other. Well, after the convoy mission is all wrapped up, a bit of a SPOILER follows...

As a connector to one of the last missions of this game (before we start the second game), we're going to do some major character interaction. The Johnny Boy and Gorlech are going to be forced to travel across a rather barren piece of space in Wild Space to reach they're next objective. Referencing from a episode in Star Trek Voyager as my visual, the Mercs would be forced to travel a similar desolate place (there's also a reference found in the Star Wars The Essential Atlas, p. 33, of "...barren swaths crossed only by rogue comets.").

The character interaction would be a good part to work on your characters' stories, interact and get to know the other plays, and set up your characters for the second game. During this space traveling expanse of nothingness, you'll get random "Journal Entries" from Jason Lasso that will help you to judge time in the game (i.e. Journal Entry 1, Day 1...Journal Entry 52, Day 33, etc.). With that said, however, some of your character interactions may be cut short or interrupted---I'm doing this on purpose for two reasons. First, so we have a time line in the game and know where we're going. Second, and the biggest reason, is I want to stretch you all---most of you have displayed a remarkable RPing ability with your characters and I want to see how each of you can take only bits and pieces of other people's stories and bring them together to get the full picture. Kind of like a puzzle if you will. I think it'll be fun, at least. :) Does that make sense? I'm trying to put it into words the best I can...my mind can visualize it just fine if that helps. :p

    :D Thanks, guys!

Palpatine was in charge for twenty plus years; are you saying this gig might balloon to last longer than I anticipated?

Wouldn't be the first time that happened to me. I once ended up running a Star Wars club for SIXTEEN years all because I promised to run it "until the next SW film", having been lulled by the three year gaps between ANH and ESB, then between ESB and ROTJ.

Back then, I hadn't heard the financial investment rule, "past performance should not be taken as a guide to future performance".
