Story [Rocky] Hearts on Fire

Title: Hearts on Fire

Genre: Mostly fluff and mush.

I decided to take a break from studying math to write a set of sentences. To make it more of a challenge, I wrote them in an hour, so they are basically unedited.
Title is taken from the song of the same name, 'Hearts on Fire', from 'Rocky IV'. I chose to write 'Rocky' sentences because Rocky (the movies and the character) is a huge inspiration to me, and has helped me through some very difficult times.
Finally, I want to say that this is the first story I've posted, and only the second thing I've written, in over a year. I'm so excited to be writing again, and I hope you'll enjoy reading these as much as I enjoyed writing them!

Rocky pulled Adrian into his arms, making her feel secure.

02. Elect
"And that's why it's important to vote, kid, you know?"

03. Forebear
Adrian wondered what her mother would have thought of her now.

04. Fathom
She still didn't understand what Rocky saw in her.

05. Radiance
He thought Adrian had never looked more beautiful.

06. Hook
"Hook shot! Go for the hook shot!"

07. Delay
In those few seconds, she wasn't sure if Rocky was even breathing.

08. Despair
He didn't want to leave Mickey's side, still unable to believe he was gone.

09. Mockery
"Whoever heard of this 'Italian Stallion'?"

10. Hypocrisy
He could never be dishonest, and that was one of the reasons she loved him.

11. Site
Paulie never imagined the meat freezer would become so famous.

12. Quota
The win meant one more trophy to display and another round of headlines.

13. Design
"Have I ever told you, Adrian, you got good taste, you know?"

14. Designate
"And Butkus' bed can go here."

15. Exasperate
Adrian stormed away from Paulie.

16. Dial
The reporters were always calling and wanting interviews.

17. Ability
"You can do this," Adrian said, squeezing Rocky's hands and gazing into his eyes.

18. Liable
They both knew the glory days couldn't last forever.

19. Separate
"Alright, break it up!"

20. Examination
"That's my smart boy!" Adrian praised as she looked at Robert's report card.

21. Stir
Rocky kissed Adrian's cheek while she mixed the gravy.

22. Pound
Rocky's fists slammed into the frozen beef again and again.

23. Notice
He'd been the first man to ever really see her.

24. Considerate
Adrian laughed, delighted, as Rocky held the door and playfully bowed for her.

25. Keystroke
The newspaper pages about Rocky's career continued to pile up.

26. Vein
"Ah, he looks worse than you do," Mickey said as he patched up the cut on Rocky's nose.

27. Relief
Adrian looked forward to having Rocky retired and safe.

28. Receive
"Oh, it's beautiful!" Adrian said as she opened the box.

29. Arguably
"You listen to your mother, kid, and that's final," Rocky said firmly.

30. Hippocratic
The doctor shook his head as he studied Rocky's X-rays.

31. Bone
Fists slammed into flesh and bone, sending drops of blood and sweat through the air.

32. Nerve
He believed he could do it because she believed in him.

33. Vessel
They stood on the sailboat's deck, enjoying the sun, wind, and waves.

34. Precaution
As always, she sent up a silent prayer to keep him safe.

35. Proceeding
The last few days had flown by, due to all of the parties and celebrations.

36. Cusp
Adrian kissed Rocky deeply, uncertain exactly what their future held, but knowing they would face it together.

37. Scratch
Adrian kissed the tiny cut on Rocky's eyebrow.

38. Pattern
He danced around the ring, feet and hands moving in an intricate rhythmn.

39. Directive
As he pushed open the gym door, Rocky grinned at the familiar sound of Mickey hollering orders.

40. Silhouette
He could barely see her in the darkness, but her skin was warm under his hand.

41. Clap
The applause and cheers were loud, but all he could hear was her voice calling his name.

42. Stare
Clubber glowered at Rocky, and Rocky fearlessly looked back.

43. Project
Adrian watched as Rocky helped Robert build a block tower.

44. Following
A throng of admiring fans pressed around Rocky, trying to get autographs and pictures.

45. Sanction
"This will be a real big fight," the promoter promised.

46. Dive
Adrian giggled as Paulie surfaced from the water, spluttering angrily.

47. Castle
"I gotta carry you over the threshold," Rocky insisted, picking Adrian up.

48. Deserve
"You've earned it, every bit, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise," Adrian said gently.

49. Dismissal
"Yeah, yeah, I'll think about it," Rocky said.

50. Contain
Adrian lay in Rocky's arms, listening to his heartbeat as he stroked her hair, both of them just glad to be with each other.

 

The movies tell a story that everyone can identify with...I think that's why they're so loved. I'm so excited to be writing again...it feels kind of like I got new glasses, and now the world's a little clearer and brighter.

What makes this challenge so fun is trying to tell an entire story in just a few words. I'm glad you thought these sentences worked, and I'm very glad you enjoyed them.
