PT Rogue One and the Prequel Trilogy (PLEASE TAG ALL SPOILERS)

K-2so was great, another great droid character to add to the saga.

Really liked all the religious looking people on Jeddah and that we now have a movie canon non-jedi Force user.

 

Even though I haven't seen the movie yet, but judging by the spoilers - it seems Rogue One is the perfect bridge between the PT and the OT. Disney have done a great job of "rounding up" the universe and linking everything together, without creating too many holes in the canon.

 

I hear he more or less steals the show.

 

28 hours for me till R1.

Vader's rampage in that corridor.

 

It's very akin to Vader in the Marvel comics. I do wonder if that's where the idea came from.

Hm, well he definitely steals the show when it came to audience reactions in my theatre, but I think that at least some of the comic relief was unnecessary. My favorite characters were Cassian and Jyn. I also think they gave the most powerful performances.

Darth Vader's castle is set up on Mustafar. Vader's abode over a river of lava on the planet where he lost everything and was effectively reborn is so fitting in so many ways. People cringe about the "I hate sand" line, but to me that represents Anakin's desire to never return "home" to Tatooine, a place that brought him so much suffering, until of course the death of his mother draws him back. As Vader, however, he literally has nothing left but his perpetual suffering to continue driving him forward, and he settles down at the site of his "birth" and the "death" of the last remnants of Anakin Skywalker (or so he believes, until the events of TESB and RotJ).

 

I refuse to believe Vader is just 80-90% of Sidious now. From everything I've seen and read in the new canon, Vader surely has be on equal status.

 

It absolutely is, and it's one of my favorite aspects of the film.

I saw this movie with a non-SW fan, and they didn't notice that Peter Cushing was CGI.

 

I loved all the PT references

Mothma and Bail were played by the same actors and both Mustafar and Coruscant appear

And people say Disney ignores the PT!

On Vader, I also love and appreciate that they weren't afraid to show him in a very vulnerable state.

Vader's page from the R1 Visual Guide says he lives on Mustafar "by the Emperor's design".

 

Disney has never ignored the PT.

Huh... seems like an element of its importance is taken away when it stops being a personal choice. I wonder how much of that was intended by the filmmakers, or if it was just a "we need to fill in some backstory so lets put that in there" thing for the visual guide.

 

Probably the second point; visual guides usually help to add depth to the lore for fans.
