I guess that's a fair answer, but I dunno.... George seems to change his mind about things whenever it suits him. I guess I want him to be happy, but one day, Star Wars is a Flash Gordon tribute, and later it's a soap opera "not about spaceships." He means it it when he says he hates continuity!

 

Any new non spoiler reviews the London premier is today?

Yeah, the world premiere is tonight in Hollywood.

 

You know, I'm pretty certain GL wouldn't sugar coat or give a misleading opinion about any of these new SW films. Especially to the director's of them.

It's does give one hope though after the very half-hearted "endorsement" he gave TFA which was totally correct.

This time he seems to really be excited which can only be good.

 

He even visited the R1 sets multiple times so I think he's more comfortable/enthusiastic with the idea of spinoff movies which is not surprising if you look at his work. Most of them are mostly anthologies, even in the SW universe.

 

Well I think what excites him is that while Rogue One is set right before ANH it's not going to be the rerun that dominates TFA (which he expected it to be as they wanted a retro movie). In this case you have to have the Empire, Rebels et all and those designs to start with then add in new things which R1 is doing. Plus as with the prequels R1 if successful is going to shift perspectives of how you look at the OT and ANH in particular.

In one sense R1 is going to be the most different SW movie outside of TPM which had the least amount of what is accepted as "Star Wars" base since it has no Vader, Empire, Rebels, Ties, X-Wings et all and had a still existing Jedi Order and Republic.

 

The only reason I care about Lucas' opinion is because if it's positive, that'll head-off endless arguments with at least one segment of the fanbase.

 

But then activate another ...aka the Lucas Haters

 

I may be naive, but I don't anticipate anyone here hating it because Lucas liked it. Maybe on random film blogs, especially if it's critically panned, but that's about it.

 

Yep. I mean we are getting a little bit of an example of the inverse right now.

 

All I know is Lucas liking it means the odds of Rogue One featuring Jyn building BB-8 or Captain Phasma's mother Clone Progenitor have increased 75%.
