Pacing issues? Pacing issues? oh that dog ain't just gonna hunt. (Stole that line from Band of Brothers).

 

"Pacing issues" will be the one flaw and we'll probably hear that frequently in reviews.

TFA earned that PG-13 as well.

 

I can't see it being worse than Fantastic Beasts and I still enjoyed that movie.

 

Pacing issues is such a bogus thing to complain about. Most people don't know what that even means.

 

I feel like this might be the opposite of FB if the pacing problems are true. In that FB slowed down in the final act, but this film seems to kill it in the final act.

It means the movie feels too long or wonky most of the time. Like you start checking your watch because you are bored. Can also mean the film is getting confusing because some scenes don't have the chance to breathe.

As with The Force Awakens, a fair number of shots from the #RogueOne trailers aren't in the movie. But the trailers did capture the tone.

Last thought (for now): Vader gets a moment of pure horror. Maybe more than one, arguably

I know what it means. Most of the general movie people don't. If they hear that phrase they don't care. But if someone says it goers boring or slow then they know. Pacing? It's a bogus review. If one thinks it gets slow or boring. Just say that.

 

I just get the feeling that the critical narrative will be something like, "Despite some pacing issues, Rogue One is the Star Wars prequel that fans have been waiting for. Amazing visuals, memorable characters and some of the best action sequences in the history of Star Wars make this the must-see event of the Holiday season."

IOW, it won't sink it, but it'll be the thing used to present a balanced review.
