As a sidethought, if they are going to include yet another version of the Battle of Hoth, and it isn't from the Imperial POV, perhaps the best way they could make it more interesting is if they made it a totally accurate portrayal of the battle (ie: only 5 AT-AT's, 2 AT-ST's, 12 T-47's, and one or two direct hits shoots you down).

Or, perhaps focus the Battle of Hoth level not on the snowspeeders, but rather the X-Wings escorting the medium transports past orbit (and I don't mean just on the ground like in RL, but in space, running the star destroyers, etc).

Thats an interesting thought...running the ISDs from Hoth would actually be cool...and more importantly..NEW..

It's a given that RS3 will have a multi-player. Factor 5 wanted to include Multi in R.Leader but were rushing to make the launch.

It would be extremely difficult to make a good level builder for something like the Rogue Squadron series.

I like the interactive hanger from RL, they would probably incorporate that into the new one. I was wondering if they can have an interactive breifing room. walk across to the options computer or take a look at crafts stats and history through a databank and well EU info. there couild be a corridor to get to the hanger bay after you select a mission from the holo display. talk with other pilots for tips or stories on the war against the empire. That type of interaction would be excellent.

It would be cool, though they'd have to include a "skip to hangar" butoon for people who want to get into the mission and not have to take so much time to get to where they cn start it.

You think by now Hoth could defend itself.

No, it's just an ice planet that's dull and boring. We need a Coruscant stage with civilian crafts flying everywhere. Similar to Wedge's Gamble novel by Michael A. Stackpole. or something more massive. I like the idea of flying through Dense cities like the bonus stage in BFN.

I agree with the above post. Doesn't fighting the Empire game after game after game get kind of boring? For how much longer can they deal out the same game over and over again before the consumers get sick of it?

Personally, I'd rather fight against the Yuuzhan Vong in the next game rather than the Empire. And the Death Star trench and Battle of Hoth have been done to death already.

Bring on the Vong! Battle of Hoth? Ha! Battle of Endor? P'tui!

    Battle of Coruscant, baby!

    I can't wait.

variety of environments around the middle third of the Star Wars universe (you know, the one that wasn't really painfully bad)

[face_plain] Your opinion, and completely unnecessary.

I was just thinking, who else wishes there was mission where your ship crash lands and then you complete the mission on foot. Mabey the battle of Hoth like in the film where your speeder crashes and you have to use shoot a harpoon at the Walkers chest then cut it open with your lightsabre and throw in a greenade. And chop up a few snowtroopers with your lightsabre.

I think that would be straying off its 'Flight Sim' genre.

I'd like a Vong-based Rogue Squadron game. The first three to five missions could be based around VP-BP, and then the final missions could be the various stages of the Battle of Coruscant, beginning with a big space battle at the edge of the system, and then moving closer and closer to the planet until you are flying through the city on Coruscant, trying to catch Vong-controlled refugee shuttles and keep coralskippers from destroying sheild generators. The next mission could be in the city while it is being bombarded, with the building burning and collapsing around you, while the final mission is a desparate fighting retreat through the atmosphere, into space, ending with the surviving Rogues escorting the Falcon and a handful of refugee ships away from the planet.

It could theoretically be about the same size as Rogue Leader, and since most of the music, vehicles, and locations have already been made, all that the developers would need to do would be to create the vong ships and make a realistic Coruscant.

To answer that, The Yuuzhan Vong are a warrior race that invades teh galaxy 21 years after Endor.

The Yuuzhan Vong are a disgrace to the Star Wars universe just like a clone of the Emperor...

How right you are...Yeah, Star Wars is really running out of novel topics. I mean, whaddya gonna do once like Luke and Han, etc. die? I fear that day...

After Luke and co. die, the focus will probably shift to Jacen Solo, Jaina Solo, Ben Skywalker and Valyn Horn.

And Artoo and Threepio are droids, so they'll remain immortal [face_batting]

Anyways- as to who the Yuuzhan Vong are, they're the race that serve as the enemy in the New Jedi Order series of books.

The Vong are highly religious zealots, primarily composed of a warrior caste, who use only organic-based weaponry and craft due to their fanatical hatred of technology (they consider it an insult to their gods).

Anyways, they arrive from another galaxy and basicly blitzkreig the galaxy. They take advantage of the New Republic's political situation to gain a foothold in the outer-rim and then stab their way through the galaxy towards Coruscant.

There have been several spectacular confrontations in the series, the most epic of which occurs mid way through the series in the novel Star By Star- the Battle of Coruscant, which is probably the largest space battle in the history of the galaxy*; and the reason why it would fit perfectly to the shoot-em-up arcade style of the Rogue Squadron series >::)

*Imagine a battle that lasts several days, starting at the edge of the Coruscant system, where 25,000+ Vong ships charge NR Fleet groups 1, 2 & 3 (more than half of the entire NR navy), then eventually the orbital minefields and gunplatforms surrounding the planet itself.

THEN there's they get to the planetary shields and ground-defenses.

And, of course, making matters worse is that the Vong fleets were using refugee transports as human shields (and, eventually, the ballistic means to take down Coruscant's shields).

It's really one hell of a battle and is just screaming to be turned into like 4 levels in a Rogue Squadron game.

I'm an EU fan, but I scoff at those who suggest the Vong would make better villians than the Galactic Empire. :p

I'd want it to be from the Imperial poV. A second TIE Fighter, so those that see the Empire as "evil" won't need to do evil things. It can be nice and honorable conflict.

If it was from the Imperial PoV, I'd buy ten copies of the game and distribute it to all my friends just to show Factor 5 and LA that I like it. :D
