OOC: Our game plan at the moment: right now, I want to get us off of Tatooine in the very near future, get to Eto, finish building our squad. We've stumbled a little so far (at least I know I have), but I want to get in a rhythm. If you guys can stick with me at least long enough for me to get the hang of this, I think we'll have a blast in the long run.

Oh, and I'm bringing in some new blood. I'm hoping he manages to drop by today - as soon as he comes in, I've got updates ready for both fronts.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Maya exclaimed throwing her tranq-gun back into the bag. "What kind of place is it where you insert foreign bodies into your neck for religion? And look at it, the skin is massively inflamed, it looks like it was done in a back alley somewhere."

Maya slumped back onto her stool, she needed to leave this cantina... hell, she needed to leave this planet, the sooner the better. She'd justed wasted a few hundred credits worth of tranquiliser and now the whole cantina looked as if they wanted her blood, all but the two newcomers who seemed to find it hysterical. The barkeep looked from the unconscious Twi'Lek and then back to Maya with the most disgusted to look she had ever been shot. "Oh come on, lighten up. He's gonna be having a hell of a trip!"

(ooc: Sorry, I don't know why, but I'm stuck in this little "Eh, I'll post tomorrow" and then failing to post rut. Between work and Elder Scrolls IV, along with the occasional movie, I'm finding it real hard to maintain the patience for RPing. Anyways, I'm hopefully back to posting with something resembling regularity)

    Mos Eisley Spaceport

Seezee looked the direction that Mistress Chell was pointing. They failed to see anything that looked like a parts shop, but all buildings on Tatooine seemed to be of similar architecture and difficult to tell apart without signs or maps.

"Certainly, Mistress Clarissa," Seezee said, "Lead the way." Estee beeped and whistled a similar response.

OOC: Quick update for now. Forecast: expect more as early as tonight.

IC: Ronin S1E1 - Captain Grant Donovan
    Tatooine - Mos Eisley

The woman appeared disgruntled, almost distraught; Grant felt a little sorry for her. He didn't have too long to feel bad before the big guy spoke up. "So what brings you here?" the Nautolan asked.

"To Mos Eisley?" the captain mused, "Eh, nothin' major." Grant sized up the Nautolan. He was big, muscular - Grant had already seen he was a more than capable fighter, as well as a responsive assistant in time of need. He seemed as qualified as anyone else in the town. "Listen," Grant said, "I'm the captain of a small freighter. We've got room for some additions to our crew. Would you be interested at all?"

Pacer put down his empty glass, now rather warm and happy from his pit stop, but not enough to make him act like a fool. For the most part.

"So, Donovan, you're just gonna hire some guy right on the spot like this?" He motioned towards the nautolan. "Wanna ask him for some credentials, work experience, schooling, recommendations from previous employers - pretty much a real interview like the one you gave me?" A smile exploded onto Pacer's face, followed by a laugh. "This guy could be just some purse-snatching, block-headed thug for all we know!"

Syn shot a glare at the man who had just spoke and replied, "And you could be a sith." He began, "But I'm willing to bet that you aren't."

The Nautolan then shifted his gaze back to the older man who had just invited him to join his crew. Syn considered it for a minute. He was tired of being a simple bouncer in a cantina on this excuse for a world, but he also didn't know what kind of crew he was being recruited into. He assumed some type of smuggling ship, or the like. A moment later he decided he could always leave he thought it wasn't going to work out, plus almost anything was better then this place.

"Yeah, I think I may be interested in joining. What's your business?"

Grant laughed along with Pacer. The guy liked to joke, but Grant didn't always know how seriously to take him. For Grant, at least, just because something was a joke didn't mean it was false. But then again, it didn't make it any less worth it to join in on the joke. "This guy could be just some purse-snatching, block-headed thug for all we know!"

"Right, replied the captain, "but at least he'd be our block-headed thug, snatching purses for the glory of the Ronin!"

The nautolan, however, didn't seem to be quite so amused. On the bright side, though, he seemed to have an interest in joining. "In any case," Grant said, "I've seen enough to know that you're a pretty good fighter, as well as a helpful enough of a guy. The work we do isn't always legal - depends on local law, you see. Anyways, our business is mostly just various odd jobs. Morally somewhat neutral, legally ambivalent, but hey, we've got a ship, and hey, it flies. If you wanna take to the stars, it's one way off this rock..

OOC: First of all, I would like to introduce our newest participant: NickLitYouAFlame. I've gotta credit him with providing about half the dialog in this post (he and I worked on this jointly). Expect his character to enter the RP shortly. To those of you who are scheduled to join the crew, but we still haven't reached yet: don't worry, we're getting closer every post. I hate to keep people waiting, but just hang tight.

    IC: Captain Grant Donovan
    Tatooine - Mos Eisley Cantina

"Good to have you aboard." Grant shook his new crewman's hand. "I'm Captain Grant Donovan. This here's Pacer Crag, the ship's engineer." As he was introducing them, Grant's comm buzzed. "Hold on a second," he told his new crew member, before stepping to the side to pick up the comm.

A voice came through the receiver, light and somewhat foreboding: ?Captain Grant, this is Scout.?

"Scout?" Grant had to think for a moment. "Oh, the Squib, right? Haven't seen you in a long time - hey, how's it going?"

"Not as well as one would hope, Grant. I hear it that you have a tail."

"A tail? What do you mean?"

?Grant, I want to help you, I really do, but in my line of work, I can?t afford favors. There?s always a price.?

Grant snorted. "That much I assumed. I?ve never known you to give anything out of the goodness of your heart.?

Scout chuckled. ?I?ve nearly milked this market for it?s value and I wouldn?t mind a new setting, Grant. And, since you?re the only one of the two of us with a ship, I think you know what I?m asking for.?

Grant smiled. He was glad Scout had asked for something he could provide - passage aboard his ship wouldn't be a big deal, especially with a larger ship on the horizon. "Sure, that sounds fine with me. Just so long as your information's worth it. So, who's after me now?"

"Sources are calling him a large Trandoshan. Really big guy, grayish-black in color. Menacing red eyes??

    "Galan Buazzi."

"He didn?t sound subtle enough to be a hired gun. So, you know him??

"Yeah. We ran a couple jobs together a while ago. He's got a grudge against me now. Says I betrayed him, or somesuch.?

?That doesn?t sound like you Grant.? The squib?s voice echoed faint sarcasm, with a twinge of humor.

"It was nothing personal." Grant laughed. "Anyways, you want to head over to my ship? I figure I'll be getting on outta here soon. My ship's in loading slot 2B."

Scout laughed, deeper than he spoke normally. His voice changed pitch as if he was nodding on his side of the link, ?I already knew that much, Grant."

"Right then," Grant said, "See you soon." With that, he hung up the comm and stepped back towards his two crew members and the woman.

"Somebody's looking for us," Grant said. "I just received word from an old friend of mine that an old enemy of mine's heard I'm in town. I don't want to have any confrontation on my hands - from what I remember, Galan normally brings friends - so why don't you two head back to the ship, I'll go get Clarissa and the droids, and we'll meet you back there." He turned to the woman, who still seemed as desperate as ever. "Listen, if you need a ride off this planet, feel free to head out with these guys, and you can hitch a ride aboard my ship. You can expect a rough ride, but you'll probably like it better than stickin' around here."

"Anyways, I gotta go. Before I head out, though - I've got a friend dropping by. Guy who supplied me the information. He's a squib - little furry guy, name is Scout. Keep an eye out for him."

With that, Grant hurried out of the cantina, and headed towards the nearest market in search of his remaining crewmates.

Grant rushed through the Mos Eisley crowds, moving as fast as he could without arousing suspicion - or drawing the attention of his enemies. Fortunately, he didn't have to search long; Clarissa and the droids hadn't gotten too far.

"Clarissa," he said as he approached her and the droids, "screw the energy cells, we gotta leave town. Old friend of mine's out lookin' for me, murder on his mind and a gang at his back. We need to head back to the Ronin

Although warm from the alcohol, the idea of a hunter on their trail made him freeze. He didn't come to his senses until Donovan was already out the door.

"Uh, Donovan! Looking for us? Donovan?" Pacer stared out the door for a moment before fumbling for some credits from his pockets and throwing them on the bar counter. He turned to his new crew member. "Hey, uh, nautolianian guy, uh," he stuck his thumb towards the door, "to the ship? Don't want to get - caught up."

Pacer's anxiousness was obvious. He turned to the young woman. "Hey, if you've got medical whiskey on you you're sure welcome to join us, other than that we, I gotta scram!" The knowledge of ship weapons systems was not going to help him if he wasn't aboard a ship...

Maya looked at the supposed "Captain" as he offered her a place on his ship with astonishment, he expected her to travel on his ship. Who did he think she was, stupid question... he had no idea who she was and that could only be a good thing. Still, it was take a lot to get her to travel with that man. As the moment that thought came into her head her comm chirped. Strange, she was sure she turned it off. Apprehensively she took the comm to her ear and answered it. A rough voice spoke immediately.

"I know where you are. I'm coming."

With a gasp she threw the comm onto the bar. With heavy breaths she stared at it for a few moments and then brushed it into a bin, touching it only for a moment as if it was a vial of infected blood.

"Hey, if you've got medical whiskey on you you're sure welcome to join us, other than that we, I gotta scram!"

"'Gonna need something stronger than that." Maya sighed before grabbing her bag and following her new crewmates out of the door, turning shortly to shout to the barman while gesturing to the Twi'Lek. "Make sure he doesn't choke on his vomit."

Pacer started walking out with the woman in tow and he thought the new crew member as well. His pace was quick; he knew that the bounty hunter, or whatever it was, was not after him, but it was after Donovan, and Pacer being part of Donovan's crew... yeah, he was after Pacer.

He wound his way through the crowd, checking to see if the woman and nautolian was following. He was silent, not ready for any formalities at a time like this. Finally, the docking bay was in site, and Pacer walked through and made his way up the ramp and to the bridge. He set himself in front of some consoles and immediately started startup checks.

    Clarissa Chell
    Mos Eisley

As soon as she set herself on a course, things started to get in her way. Clarissa sighed inwardly, annoyed at losing her chance to stretch her legs a bit. She'd been looking forward to ditching droid for a moment and dealing with a spot of personal business, but it looked like that wouldn't be happening any time soon. Oh well, she mused, there'll be other chances. You knew what you were getting yourself into, anyways. No one ever said life under Donovan would be glamourous. That made her think of something else, which in turn brought a coy smile to her lips, but she dismissed the idea immediately. She knew that she was a bit of an ice queen to the others - calm, calculating, efficient, And attractive! She would have smiled again, but Seezee wasn't exactly learned up on human emotions in her experience.

"All right, boys, back to the ship." She spun on her heel, nearly knocking into the protocol droid. If that's really what he is, she thought. "It's not polite to keep people waiting."

In moments she was back aboard the Ronin, checking her quarters for a brief moment before slipping into the cockpit.

Maya followed Pacer as he approached the ship. At first glance the ship didn't look much, but Maya had learnt that appearances were deceiving. When they boarded the ship she put her bags down in a corner and then joined Pacer in the bridge, he was starting up the consoles as she entered.

"You often running away from people?" She asked leaning in the doorway. "We haven't been introduced, I'm Maya Yubari."

Mos Eisley - aboard the Ronin

"Well," Grant said as he stepped aboard, "normally I wouldn't have hit the road so fast, but if I remember Galan correctly, he's pretty crafty. If you're not careful, he'll give you a real nasty surprise."

From somewhere in the back of the ship came a deep, throaty laugh. Grant turned around, and saw a bulky, shadowy figure approaching. "You remember me well," spoke the figure. Big, tall Trandoshan. But Grant already knew exactly who was approaching, carrying a giant cannon of a blaster. "It's been a long, long time," spoke Galan. "Good to see you haven't forgotten me."

"Well, fancy seein' you here," Grant said.

Galan laughed again. "Yeah, fancy that. And guess what? I brought a friend of yours." With that, a wiry, bug-eyed alien stepped forward, escorting at gunpoint Grant's friend Scout.

"Damn it," Grant said. He looked down the ramp, where Syn and the droids still hadn't boarded the ship yet. Two more thugs were staring them down, circling in, pressing closer and closer to the ship. Hopefully, Syn would prove to be as good of a fighter as Grant had seen back in the cantina. And hopefully the rest of Grant's crew had their blasters handy...

    Name: Scout
    Species/homeworld: Squib/Skor II
    Gender: Male
    Age: 35
Skillset/Profession: Scout, Tracker, Force Manipulation, Wandering Merchant, Gunner, Decent pilot
    Affiliation (if any): Himself
    Physical Description: [image=http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/e/e4/Squib_Alien_Anthology.jpg]
Personality/Psychological profile: Talks fast, moves fast. Very elusive. Gregarious, insatiably curious, and obsessed with haggling and deal-making. Nosy. Tough, despite his size. Abuses his ability to distort others minds. Speaks fluent Basic, with little hints of an accent.
Possessions: Scope-fitted DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle, shortened DC-15S blaster, Large suitcase of wares, large supply of credits
Character History: Developed his skill with a blaster from birth. His mother was once a Jedi and she taught him to sway others and sense his surroundings with the Force. She taught him to always hide his ability and only reveal pieces, if he must at all. Scout used the Force primarily to heighten his ability to bargain, often confusing customers into making bad decisions. Scout was able to trace subtle movements and find people and items once lost.

He occasionally got a job on a starship, helping rookie smugglers with purchasing and selling, always ripping them off. Scout was friendly, but his dealings garnered mistrust and he moved frequently.
Other Notes: Scout has no ship at the moment, having recently sold his last one.

Scout struggled convincingly against the thug. He didn?t really want to break free, yet, though. It would be better if Scout could put Galan down before any other shots were fired. When he had been kidnapped, Scout had managed to pinch a small vibro-blade. He held it in his sleeve, waiting for his chance to cut the Trandoshan in the neck. Even their tough scales couldn?t stop a vibro-blade. He was only lucky that Galan wasn?t a Barabel.

Scout grunt and spoke loudly to Grant,
?Hey, would you get your guys together, Grant? Please?? Before Scout could say anymore the bug-eyed individual tightened his grip on Scout?s neck. Scout nearly smiled.

Pacer paused for a moment, wondering if this Maya woman was talking to him, seeing that Clarissa was also lost in her work.

"Uh, Pacer, Pacer's my name," he responded, half paying attention. "Nice to have you aboard" - some more button pushes - "Maya."

Where was Donovan? He left before we did, thought Pacer. Did he beat him to the ship? Did... the bounty hunter get to Donovan first? Did... did the bounty hunter beat Donovan to the ship?

"Uh, anyone seen Donovan? Donovan?" Pacer nervously asked to no one in particular, mostly reacting to his nerves. He flipped on the comm circuit. "Donovan, Pacer, where are ya? Where are ya?" Pacer's fidgeting and slight inebriation got the best of him and just as quickly as he turned on the comm he shut it off, standing up and walking towards the ramp. Maybe he's out there? Maybe he's out there?!

He passed by Maya at the doorway and made his way to the ramp to take a look outside. His mind was spinning, and what he really needed was a good drink. He fumbled for his pocket flask and unscrewed it. Just then he looked up, and there he saw an unfriendly sight, right aboard the ship.

"Dono - Donova - Don..." Pacer was dumbstruck by what stood before him. He took a quick, hard swig from his flask.

"I, I found you, and so did this guy." A miserable attempt at humor.

Syn almost reached for his blaster to take out the Trandoshan, but had second thoughts, because he knew most of these were a little trigger happy, and figured his two guards would take him out, before he could turn on them, after taking out the trandoshan. Instead he opted to wait for some on the ramp to make a move.

"We haven't been introduced, I'm Maya Yubari."

Clarissa blinked. She hadn't even been aware that someone had been talking to her. Wasn't it that Crag fellow she'd been talking to? Clarissa turned, masking her uncertainty with her best "I'm very distracted right now but would enjoy talking to you later" face. "I'm Clarissa." There we go. Good cover. Let Crag talk to her. Clarissa glanced about, genuinely confused now. Where the hell is Pacer? She checked a few monitors in the cockpit. Oh, hell, Fuming inwardly, she walked into the corridor, looking about slowly. All at the ramp...that was good. Maybe she could pull a neat trick and switch things up.

She glanced at Maya. "Watch the ship. Someone comes in here who you don't think should be in here...be creative." Clarissa disappeared into the corridor, walking for a short moment before she found what she was looking for. She slid her knife out of the sheath, and without thinking, began tapping the blade against the flooring lightly. Any ship worth looking at had a few tricks hidden away, and any ship dealing in a port like Mos Eisley had more than one exit.

Sure enough, one of the floor plates rang out. Empty space beneath. Perfect. She wedged her knife in the line between plates, and lifted. With a click, it snapped up. Clarissa fitted her goggles to her face, pulling her hair back out of her eyes and tying it back. Show time.

    Tatooine - Aboard the Ronin

Grant and Galan held eye contact for a silent moment while Grant assessed the situation. Galan definitely had the advantage; he had taken Grant and his crew by complete surprise. Grant had just a pistol on him, but if he tried to draw it, he was sure to be shot. Galan's gun was huge - big enough that at full-power, it could possibly destroy the whole cockpit - but Grant doubted it was turned up all the way. At that level, it would be as much a hazard to Galan as it would be to anyone else, and besides, Galan rarely went for the quick kill. If anything, the gun would be set to stun, or possibly to another low-power setting. A hit would incapacitate, but probably wouldn't do any major damage. If worse came to worse, Grant reasoned he might have to risk taking a hit in order to cause enough of a distraction for one of his crewmates to take action.

But who could Grant count on? Pacer was drunk. The Nautolan seemed ready to go, given the opportunity, and the droids were always full of surprises. Scout couldn't do much in his current situation, but given a break, he could maybe turn the tables. Then there was Clarissa... Grant didn't know what Clarissa was up to at the moment, but he imagined (or at least hoped) that she was working on some sort of plan.

"Well then, Grant" the Trandoshan said, "I suppose we'd better get down to business." But before he could elaborate, Grant made his move: he dove for cover. As he ducked behind a command console, he heard Galan fire his blaster and he felt pain in his left leg. He looked down; Galan had hit him just below his left knee. It wasn't pretty, but it wasn't too ugly. More importantly, Grant had caused a distraction, and hoping to prolong the distraction as long as possible, Grant pulled out his blaster and fired off a few inaccurate shots toward Galan.

"Watch the ship. Someone comes in here who you don't think should be in here...be creative."

With that Clarissa was gone and Maya began to hear blaster shots from a worryingly close distance. Be creative... be creative... what the hell does that mean!? Maya thought to herself while franticly searching for her blaster. Frell Must have left it in the cantina.

It would be better for everyone if she remained here she decided, she was unarmed and the only good she would be was as cannon fodder. So she quietly lodged herself behind a door armed with a tranq-gun and waited.
