I.E., CA rose parade

Is anyone from our group planning on going to watch the rose parade?

 

It is unknown at this point, but there is a good likelihood...

 

I put in for the 3 - 10 morning shift, so I plan on at least being there.

 

Isn't that shift the day before?

 

Nope, it's the day of.

 

The parade is on the 1st, this makes the final shift the day before...

 

Let me doulbe check that with the organiser, seems strange to finish and leave them sitting for 24 hours.

 

Tis confirmed, it's the morning of the 31st that shift.

I guess the designers to the final, final touches on the morn of the parade.

 

Isn't the day of the 31st spent judging the floats after they are done? (Plus transporting them to the parade site...)

 

Yes. That's why we finish the day before.

And I get to bug you guys who are doing the 3am shift!

 

Is anybody up for getting a large hotel room some where in Pasadena for New Years Eve? We need to make some plans!

 

We've decided against going to the parade...with the way I'm doing with the cold weather, it's not the smart thing to do, Ryan was never too sure about it anyone. We'll watch on t.v., so I guess we'll spend New Year's Eve here. Anyone's welcome to come over if they're in our area.

 

Yeah, I wish we could go, but that's a little difficult with a 3 year old and finding babysitting. We don't have any plans so far except to TiVO the parade! I feel like an old fart sometimes already, and I'm only 25. Sheesh.

 

The floats will all be on display after the parade, usually in Sierra Madre, the wife and I will probably pop along to view them after the parade.

 

I'll be there. We're staying in West Covina then going to my uncle's house near Colorado Blvd to park and go claim our spots on the sidewalk at 6am.

 

I've got a ticket for the grandstand on the corner of Colorado and Orange...

 

How sad that I've lived in So-Cal all of my life and you've only been here months yet I still have the following questions for you.

How'd you get them? Where'd you get them? How much were they? Who ya goin' with? How come ya didn't share this info with the rest of us before purchasing them? Are they sold out?

Who's working on the floats this weekend? Any chance of some carpooling? I'm on the schedule for all day Sunday.

 

I'm going with a bunch of people from the 501st. They asked if I wanted to join them and if they should get me a ticket with the rest of their block. It is in one of the most expensive sections (Sec. 414), listed as on of the best available, so it's at the upper end of the $40-$85 price range. No clue if they are sold out, best idea is to check with Sharp Seating if there are any left. If I had taken my own initiative to purchase tickets, I would have shared the information. However, because it was an invitation...

As far as floats, I'm doing both Saturday and Sunday...

 

Bah. Free front row seats on the curb > the stands, IMO.

No, Stuart is a good CR who gave notice and withdrew from that shift a few weeks ago.

Had a ton of fun working on the floats today!! It was DH, Valedakor (from LAFF), Miana Kenobi (from SDFF), Jedi LarryB and myself with some other fans. We worked on plant life for both floats.

Here is the link to my pix. Can't wait to see them as they progress! It was so cool. I highly recommend everyone to work a shift if they can. What an experience!
