FF:NZ ROTJ appreciation . . .

Ok, you knew this thread had to happen.

Here's my favourite scenes:

Vader's arrivial on the Death Star.

When Luke 'walks the plank', then flips around in mid-air. Go Luke!

Vader and Luke's conversation on Endor. I remember someone on IMDB complaining about this scene, saying that after ESB, seeing them have a civilised conversation just isn't the same. I disagree. There's some great lines - 'It's too late for me, son'

When Luke goes nuts and takes down Vader. One of the most powerful scenes in the saga, especially with that music.

The 'Return of the Jedi' scene. I always cheer when he throws the moudly old corpse down the shaft.

And, of course, the end celebration. From the funeral pyre, to the three spirits watching over Luke, I always like to shed a few tears. *sniff*

 

the scene where the ewok dies and his mate runs back to get him but hes dead that is funny.

 

I like chewbacca and the ewoks in the At-St
and the scenes where the ewoks take out a few of the At-St with logs and stuff

 

I don't much like the saber battle on the skiff, where Luke "bats" Jabba's men off the side into the Sarlacc with the saber.

And the death of Fett (EU be damned) is anticlimactic.

Why do ATST's explode when hit by wood or merely fall over?

Still I love Jabba's Palace, Han's funny lines, Leia's bikini, the fact that R2 is turned into a walking swiss army knife, the speeder bike chase, and the space battle above the Endor moon (except maybe the SSD crashing into the Death Star)...

I do prefer SW & ESB, but RotJ is still a lot of fun...

 

Only saw a bit of it last night, love the beginning. "We shall double our efforts"

the laugh is so cool, love when he pulls c-3po eye out and artoo zaps him

artoo pushing c-3po of the barge is funny

 

One of the best things about last night's screening, was the cutaway to Vader on the adbreaks. I thought it was so neat, I taped one of them.

 

it was quite wierd, you'd be watching it and suddenly vader would start breathing...

I love the bit where paploo steals the speeder bike.

and the rancor is one of my favourite creatures, even though the superimposing still looks a bit funny.

 

Like the others, I love ROTJ. Aren't many parts I dislike; but there are a lot I really like.

The scene I like the most in the entire saga is the scene beginning with "You cannot hide forever, Luke" and ending with "So be it. Jedi". In fact, all the scenes in that throne room are great, as are Vader's unmasking and the funeral pyre.

IMO, the new ending works better than the old one. The music is better for ending the saga.

The only thing I'd want to change if they made an "Ultimate Edition" is some of the matte effects (e.g. the Rebel hangar and some of the cockpits).


The cutaway was cool, but I would have made it reflect the title. Maybe a shot of Luke looking up at the Emperor after "I am a Jedi, like my father before me".

 

I prefer the old ending music to be honest, not that I dont like the new version, still cool.

good point about the cutaway Seb, thats gotta be one of my favourite quotes! "I'll never turn to the Dark Side. You've failed your highness... I am a jedi.. like my father before me."

 

favourite part of ROTj is when the Emperor taunts luke in the deathstar, he is so sarcastic

one thing i hate about trilogy being on t is having to explain the whole plot to uneducated flatmates, who can only barely remember the movies

Fave bit is when Vader is watching Luke getting zapped and then turns to look at the Emperor. (If only we could see his face at that moment.)

And of course Chewie's Tarzan 'yodel' when he's swinging across to the AT-ST. (LOL)

IMO, it did reflect the title. I've always thought the title refered to Anakin, the Jedi who returned from the dark side.

 

The title probably refers to that and Luke becoming a Jedi. However, the clip was from when Anakin was a Sith Lord...

Doesn't really matter, anyway, the clip was cool

 

now i would have thought a girlfriend would be forgiving, and understanding of your SW addiction

 

she is, but that doesnt mean shes watched star wars more than twice.
I dont mean to complain, shes a lovely girl really.

 

After watching ROTJ my girlfriend has seen them all at least once.
now have to start the second showing.
i too had to explain parts to her mid movie
ah the things we do for love.

when Luke surrenders and is brought before Vader she asked how did he get caught, just as the At-At commander says he surrendered

 

I've had that problem with my flatmates too, I'm doing my best at force feeding them star wars.

 

Forcefeeding - is that some new Jedi mind trick.
