ROTJ-When Han and Luke are reunited

AFter Luke kills the rancor and Jabba the Hutt gets angry and calls for them all, you see the Gammoreans bring Luke and Han together. They are chit chatting, but in the background, there is a large creature in a big black robe, resembling a ringwraith from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

What is this creature and where is it from?

I couldn't find a pic, but it's not far into the movie if you need a sneakpeak.

i found this thread the other day...and watched ROTJ again, and the being looks taller than the Ephant Mon i know from ANH

 

Lucas got the inspiration for Ephant Mon from the Ringwraiths, it's all too obvious.

I think Bib's right, it is likely Ephant Mon - he's the large creature standing in the background when Luke and Han are brought together. And I don't recall Ephant Mon being in ANH - could you be thinking of another character?

I believe he may be mistaking Ephant Mon for Garindan, the Imperial spy from ANH.

What I want to know is why are there not any aliens like half of Jabba's court in the present trilogy. Like this Ephant Mon guy? Or others!

Doesn't Elliot call one of his ANH figures "Elephant Man" in E.T.? It's been so long since I've seen it. Which figure was he playing with?

Yeah, he does.
Can't remember which ones at the moment...but it's Spielburg's little shout-out to Lucas (along with using a bit of Yoda's theme in ET as well).

Hammerhead
Walrus man

Lando

Not sure but perhaps also Vader?

He also has Boba Fett- and the closed captioning called him "Bobba Fett."

 

Also in ET there was the kid in the Yoda Halloween costume. It was one of the things I remembered most when I saw ET back in 1982. That, and the flying bicycle scene of course.

By the way getting back on topic personally I've never thought that Ephant Mon resembled a ringwraith. The only similarity is the black cloak.

 

the only thing in star wars that resembles a ringwraith is Nom Anor, but since he aint in the movies...
