I wasn't surprised when it was announced as a PG-13 in the States.

Well, that pretty much confirms the kicking of an ass or two!!! [face_dancing]

And the OT are all 'U's.

Maybe they should not have bothered editing the Obi Jango fight in AOTC.

Don't even get me started, I'll be here for hours!

I actually had a very heated argument with the head of the BBFC over censorship when I was at Uni! What can I say, I felt superior that day! :p

We have the strictest censorship in Europe
We gave American Beauty an 18 here, but it got a U in France

Well, that might be going a bit far.

I am not sure that kids need to see Kevin Spacey knocking one out in the shower. Or Mena Suvari's 'colourful' antics.

There was much celebration here when the BBFC announced that rating. The introduction of the 12A certificate was one of the BBFC's few wise decisions. AOTC was cut by 1 second to remove the headbutt because back at that point, the 12A classification had not yet been introduced. Fox/Lucasfilm were left with the choice of a PG (cut), or a 12 uncut (due to the BBFC's ridiculous obsession with headbutts).
But now, thanks largely to the first Spidey movie, the 12A certificate has allowed ROTS to be passed with no cuts made.
(I too contacted the BBFC about the Clones cut back in 2002, and they replied with a load of unconvincing twaddle. The dumb thing was that they left headbutts intact in the LOTR films, which were PGs... due to the fact that the headbutts in LOTR were exchanged between humans and non humans, whereas the one in AOTC was between two humans. The BBFC have since altered their story and now claim that AOTC was cut because Jango was wearing a helmet, and Obi-Wan wasn't. Go figure.)

Just get the AOTC DVD on any region other than 2UK if you want the uncut version.

Other films which have been needlessly cut by the BBFC in recent years include:
    Spider-Man 2 (headbutt)
    The Mummy Returns (headbutt)
    Batman Returns (aerosol in microwave)
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (headbutt & switchblade)
    The Matrix (8 headbutts removed)
etc... the list goes on and on. Even the Disney cartoon "Mulan" has a headbutt removed. Lunacy!

And yet, I there is a very blatant headbutt in Star Trek: Generations...probably harder that what is seen in either AOTC or The Matrix -- And surprise, surprise, it's only PG rated!

^ Bingo! I mean, Malcolm McDowell drops the nut on him, hard! Okay, so it's cool for the Captain of the Enterprise to have his cranium rammed, but when Ted Theodore Logan tries to do it with an unstopable killing machine in a suit, it's a finger-waving, no-no!

    Man, the BBFC are thick!
