At the 32nd Annual People's Choice awards,ROTS won for Favorite Movie:Drama and Favorite Movie.George Lucas himself was on hand to accept the award, which was presented to him by Harrison Ford.Star Wars rocks the house! =D= [face_dancing]

An empty award. Who wouldn't expect this.

I want to see the Academy Awards give a special Oscar to Lucas for the Saga. It is not unprecedented. The Industry big-whigs owe him for 25 years of Box Office. Movies would be dead without Lucas.

It may not be a huge surprise given how popular SW was this year, but it must have shocked the hell out of the 'No One Likes SW Anymore' crowd, and I think that's partially why I'm glad that it did win. [face_laugh]

I'd also like to see Lucas get some kind of recognition from the Academy(beyond technical awards). I'm doubtful that he ever will, but here's hoping. :)

Given his history with the Academy...

Probably when he's near death or after he's gone.

I don't agree that it is an empty award. I think this is probably more important to Lucas than something from the academy because it was voted on by the fans.
