    Is there a filter or some other way to make the masks rounder in AE for sabers. The edges are extrememly hard right now. I just want a softer feel to them. Any ideas?

    Well if you have masks, instead of gaussian blurring them or whatever, use the feather.

    Solid
    -> Mask
    -> Feather

    I use the video tutorials method when I rotoscope so I do the glows by using the mask feather. I think I will try doing a 3 gaussion blur on the core then do the feathering.

    I find that if you apply a median effect on the glow comp, it does the job nicely, while still retaining the core definition with the lower blur.
