Welcome ladies and gentlemen, roleplayers and GMs, mods and users alike, to the New RPF Awards - Summer 2017 Edition!

I am your host, Darth_wanderguard, and it is my pleasure and privilege to bring yet another installment of these awards meant to celebrate the lifeblood of this community - YOU!

    How do the awards work?

The awards are a two-step process. The first step is a public ballot nomination period which will last for two weeks. After the nomination period is done, the three candidates with the most nominations for each award will be presented as nominees. In the case of a tie to determine one or more spots, candidates who are tied are considered semi-finalists. Each candidate is counted as to how many awards for which they are either a finalist or semi-finalist. The candidates with the least are favored for tie-breaking purposes. Failing that, I as host retain a tie breaking vote since I do not nominate or vote under normal circumstances.

A two-week secret voting period will then commence in which your votes will be cast via PM to the awards host. After the polls have closed, the winners will be announced and prizes awarded.

    What are the prizes?

The winners of the Best Roleplayer and Best GM awards will receive colors for one month! The game which wins the Best RPG award will have the option of ***Voted Best RPG Summer 2017*** being edited into its thread title.

    What are the awards?

    "Best" Awards:

    Best Roleplayer

    Best GM

    Best RPG

    Best Original Character

    "Most" Awards:

    Most Long-Winded Roleplayer

    Most Promising New Roleplayer

    Most Sadistic GM

    Most Helpful GM

    Most Frightening Character

    Most Humorous Character

Most Accurate Portrayal of a Canon Character

    Most Unpredictable Original Character

    So how do I vote?

It's simple! Just post your list of nominations in-thread, and wait for the successful nominees to be announced. Then, PM your votes to the host and be sure to check back in for the ceremony once the voting period is over.

    Who is eligible?

Players must be currently active in the RPF to receive nominations. A game must be currently active *when the awards begin* to be eligible for Best RPG. You cannot nominate yourself. You can vote for yourself.

Individuals may not win Best Roleplayer or Best GM consecutively. The same game may not win Best RPG consecutively, and the same character may not win Best Original Character consecutively.

As of this edition, QueenSabe7 is currently ineligible for Best Roleplayer, Lady Belligerent is currently ineligible for Best GM, and Darth Hesper is ineligible for Best Original Character. New Sith Trials II: Rise of the Hand is ineligible for Best RPG.

If you have nominated incorrectly you will be given notice and an opportunity to change your selections. You may only change selections which were invalid - the rest of your nomination ballot is locked in.

Get nominating and have fun, everyone!

    "Best" Awards:

Best Roleplayer - @HanSolo29. Her posts are always easy to read and are engaging. Wonderful characterization, even if one is a giant piece of bantha **** (I'm looking at you Aryan).

Best GM - @Sinrebirth, for his work in 'The New Sith Trials' and 'After the Awakening.' They have different styles of storytelling, but they both work quite well.

Best RPG - After the Awakening Part II: The End. I am intrigued to see how this plays out. Also, I thought it was time to nominate something other than a New Sith Trials game.

Best Original Character - Esmerelda, portrayed by Sinrebirth.

    No reason. [face_whistling]

    Most Awards:

Most Long-Winded Roleplayer - @galactic-vagabond422 because of his posts in AtA Part I.

Most Promising New Roleplayer - @Dagobahsystem. Saadi is so deliciously evil. [face_skull]

Most Sadistic GM - @Darth_wanderguard. Haretisch's violent punishment for Reiis was exactly that. Violent.

    And unnecessary.

    Sorry, Sinre.

    You too, Bellorum.

Most Helpful GM - @Sinrebirth, only because I've been stuck with him for most of my roleplaying endeavours. :p

Most Frightening Character - Darth Manticore, as portrayed by @greyjedi125

Most Humorous Character - A tie between Reiis Invadator (portrayed by @Anakin.Skywalker) and Kwea Acantha (portrayed by @Halle Dray). Their Master-Apprentice relationship is rather interesting to read.

If I was forced to choose only one, I'd give the edge to Kwea.

For the second or third time in a row. :p

Most Accurate Portrayal of a Canon Character - ???

Most Unpredictable Original Character - ???

    "Best" Awards:

Best Roleplayer: @Mitth_Fisto; Whether portraying a holocron or some obscure alien from the pages of the EU, this guy is always on point.

Best GM: @LordTroepfchen; He came back to the GMing scene with a bang! He has quite a story to tell, and it's done with a very cinematic approach that makes for a fun and enjoyable experience!

Best RPG: The Crossing; This one hit the ground running and never stopped – engaging, exciting and unpredictable. It keeps you guessing with each update.

Best Original Character: LEGO/Sebastian Klein as portrayed by @DarkLordoftheFins in The Crossing; It has been fun to watch LEGO's journey so far – from artist to super being, the character is very complex and always evolving. Fins has done an amazing job capturing the pitfalls and triumphs of someone trying to deal with extraordinary circumstances. Nicely done! :)

Most Helpful GM: @Darth_wanderguard; But on the flip side, he is very accommodating and always approachable to hash out plot points and other ideas related to the game. He is a pleasure to work with (don't let him fool you! ;) )

Most Unpredictable Original Character: @Kaleesh-Cyborg I enjoy the undecidedness, hesitation, and resistance of his discovery of the force. Most players want to use the force, this character resists but is being pulled deeper into it. Such a dynamic is a refreshing note.

    NOMINATIONS ARE CLOSED!

We've got a great line up of nominees all-around - it wouldn't be surprising to see a few ties given how difficult some of these choices are. So let's get in there and vote. Your favorite nominees can't walk away with gold unless you help them! Voting is open until October 2nd. Just copy and paste the ballot, and PM your selections to the host (that's me).

The tram spilled open from the Force of the battle fought within; Kylo Ren spun away, cloak swirling, waving a hand to take the grenades and send them up out the tram into the magnetic connections overhead; a Force shield negated the wave of hear from troubling Ren.

Frag grenades, Kylo mused. She meant business.

His troopers took potshots at the falling tram. Ren ignored them, turning to the commander of the surviving twelve man squad. 'We must withdraw to the Supreme Leader's position. I must speak with him.'

    'Sir?'

'She doesn't know that Han Solo is dead.'

After the Awakening Part II: The End

    The year was 34 ABY.

The New Republic, two weeks ago, was scuppered by the First Order, a shot from Starkiller base having annihilated the First Fleet and many of the great flagships of the Rebellion - the Viscount; the Guardian; the Harbinger; the Elegos A'Kla; the Rebel Dream; the Yald - along with the entire Senate, which had been in session at the time. CHANCELLOR VILLECHAM and his ministry are dead, though there were survivors among the wreckage of the orbital fleet; Senator TREEN, for example, who briefly joined the recovery effort based from Eshan.

The Resistance relocated to Yavin 4, and prepared a previously unthinkable plan; to assassinate Supreme Leader SNOKE, and attempt to seize KYLO REN, making use of an actor double of HAN SOLO, one PRAXON, assisted by WYN, to distract the latter enough for the team, consisting of the shapeshifter BELILA 'BRE' GAMBROUS, the Mandalorian SUSULAR DHA'TRA, and pilot RHOEN AQUILLA, working together with LYSA DUNTER, BOBA FETT, GORAN BE'VIIN and GENERAL LEIA ORGANA, recently widowed by her own son.

Defeating a plot by the darksider KU'AR DANAR with the help of the Jedi spirit of ULIC-QEL DROMA and Master KYP DURRON, the crew was caught up in an attempt to kill them all by SNOKE, unveiling his Sith name of DARTH PLAGUEIS. Driving SNOKE to flee towards his Super Star Destroyer, the RAVAGER, the Resistance has dispatched its team in hot pursuit, having joined forces with rogue ARGEN and the Muun banker DAMASK aboard the ROSA in the final panicked moments of the BATTLE OF YAVIN 4.

Closer to the Unknown Regions near Esfandia, former Jedi Padawan KODO PRINE, working with the aged QUINLAN VOS and GALEN MAREK, ambushes the Sith Lord with dramatic consequences.

The Super Star Destroyer, in the depths of the Unknown Regions, has been found by JAINA SOLO, and during her infiltration of the ship to pursue her brother, Admiral DAALA has acted to cripple the warship with a hit and fade strike, stranding the leadership of the First Order in the face of the Resistance hit squad.

While the BATTLE OF ORD MANTELL rages, disgraced officer BRUTURUS HIDAX is paired with the sole survivor of her squad, SAVA BOUTROS by CAPTAIN PHASMA during the engagement, and succeed in triumphing during the pivot point of that engagement, earning them notoriety within the First Order, even as, in a seemingly unconnected event, IZZY STARK performs BLACK SUN business on CORUSCANT.

However, an Eighth member of what will become known as the PROTECTORS - VINCENT MIKARU - was on his own mission to discover his true Sith roots, having discovered during the BATTLE OF ESHAN that he was descended from the OUTLANDER, who had fought the ETERNAL EMPIRE OF ZAKUUL three and a half millennia ago. Heading to Chandrila to the TOMB OF THE BRAESEN'THOR, with the Twi'lek hunter MYNA'VERA and a Ryn on a parallel course, the Echani warrior intends to seek the connections between the past and this present threat.

Little does he know that the moment the droid drew the last piece of blood that the Codex was complete.

    They've already lost.

    Best Original Character

Darth Syren as portrayed by QueenSabe7

Excerpt selected from New Sith Trials II: Rise of the Hand...

So close she nearly touched him, Syren stared hungrily at Dakko’s ashen face, listening intently as he began to speak. Her focus and desire to seize as much intel as possible from this being suddenly hit a fever pitch with what he was surely about to reveal. This would finally be a win for her; she would at the very least have something to take back to Haretisch that could possibly make up for her mistakes… if he even knew of them at this point.

    snap

However, the budding relief that had begun to take hold was short-lived. It was so completely and unexpectedly quashed by that small, seemingly insignificant sound that Syren only had enough time to jerk her head a few inches to the side before a blaster bolt sheered the Rodian’s skull wide open and narrowly missed hers. A grotesque mixture of blood, gore and brain matter splattered her face and chest, freezing her in place with a chaotic mixture of emotions. As the “former” smuggler’s limp body slumped forward, she closed her eyes and did not even bother stopping indignation from seeking dominance.

A piercing scream snapped her back to the present, the dancer perched upon her stage appropriately reacted to the macabre scene.

    Syren merely rolled her eyes.

“You have got to be krffing KIDDING ME!” she shouted impulsively as if to answer the shrieking Twi’Lek. Feeling globs of bone and flesh sliding down her cheek, Syren chucked her glass aside and stood. Hastily wiping the mess from her skin, she flung it aside with a flick of a wrist, plastering it on the nearby wall. “Shut up, damn it!” she snarled back at the blue-skinned female, forcibly suppressing the urge to snap her neck. As she looked up at the girl that was when she noticed numerous faces peering right back at her. It would not do to hang around any longer.

    AND FINALLY...

    HanSolo29!!

Excerpt selected from Star Wars: After the Awakening...

'Can I rely on you, Han?'

Praxon did not resist as the General – no, Leia; if he was going to go through with this, he needed to drop the pleasantries – began to lead him back to the others. Whatever reservations he had regarding the mission were instantly curbed at the sight of her laughter. It was a small gesture, but one that indicated that he was making his mark. He had struck a chord with her and it affected him in such a way that he could not ignore this calling. Despite her claims that his presence would be painful for her to bear – and to a certain extent, he imagined that to be very true – he had an inkling that she actually craved for his company. She needed Han Solo in order to make her peace and carry on with her life.

The risks were palpable, he knew, but in this case, he was happy to oblige.

Closing his eyes for a brief moment, Praxon inhaled deeply and allowed himself to relax. By the time he regained his composure and refocused his gaze on Leia, he was fully embodying the spirit of Han Solo, right down to the casual lean to his stance and the crooked smirk upon his lips.

He reached out and brushed her hand lightly in acceptance. "Let's bring our son home."
