The knight flexed his hand after getting it back from the firm grip of the shadowy figure.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance," he said nodding his head, light glinting off the gold and silver piercings in his ears. He did not understand what the furry being said but, he gave a wan smile. While the tone seemed friendly, the handshake veered too close to aggression for the Sentinel. Maybe he was looking too deep into it, it could have just been a friendly challenge. A second makes their presence known. Rak's brow furrows a bit, had he been gone so long as to miss the addition of two members.

"Are you new initiates to our temple, padawans?" he asks, wondering how these two connect to the temple Rak had come to call home. As much as any place can be for the Vagabond Jedi. "Should be an interesting bout," he commented stroking his chin, "I've never seen a three way spar between three padawans. Though most of my training was one-on-one with my master." He thought for a moment thinking fondly of the man that taught him the foundation that became his particular saber style. "Tell me a little about yourselves, I'm always interested in meeting new people, I find them fascinating." His smile returned to his face and his eyes shone in the light. His friendly dememor pouring out form him.

Arach chuckled, her gold eyes lit with good- natured mischief. "Not quite." she inclined her head towards the arena. "I was merely passing by, but the temptation of watching Jedi spar was too strong."

She offered both some chocolate drizzled popcorn. "My name's Arach, by the way. Popcorn?" She half- smiled.

The smile turned into more of a smirk, taking one of the puffy white and brown morsels into his fingers.

"Avarray." He started popping the 'popcorn' in to his mouth. He pauses for a second, taking in the strange sweet and salty flavor. "Hum," he remarked in light surprise, "Rak Avarray." He finished after swallowing. "This is quite an interesting place for you two to be passing through. It's a lot out of your way. It's a lot out of everyone's way." He recalled how he came to the temple. Guided by the Force, running out of fuel. He barely survived crash landing on the frozen ground, nearly froze to death just outside. It's hard to find unless you know where it is or guided by the Force itself. "So," he popped another bit of food into his mouth, "How'd you get here. Fly yourself, or hitch a ride?"

Titus entered the field and gave his fellow padawans a short nod. He felt a little nervous, it was the fisrt time he would fight in a three way duel.
He reached for his lightsaber as the others did, like them he decided to wait a moment before he activated it.
Holding the blue blade before him he decided to wait for the others to attack.

'Van' felt the breeze die down as he gathered his focus; emptying his mind of the clutter, he embraced the Force.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw Titus slowly make his way onto the grounds. He looked over to acknowledge the Padawan and could see the apparent apprehension.

"Do not falter brother," his tone sarcastic yet reassuring, "today we shall prove ourselves."

One of the Temple protocol droids announced from the observation deck, "Basic rules apply, more than one strike received and you are to remove yourself from the duel. Combatants proceed when ready."

Within the blink of an eye he was on the move, the *snap-hiss* of his green training blade cut through the air as he ran towards his right. He targeted Serajj, the more seasoned duelist between the three, and employed the tried and true lightsaber combat form of Shii Cho.

His attacked across the midsection with a one-handed swing, keeping his feet balanced and square.

A howl emerged from the Wookiee at Rak's question.

"The Dark Side is a means to achieve power some would call.... unnatural."

He bellowed a sinister laugh and pointed at the dueling Jedi... knowing neither would end up dead, he turned his attention to Arach's popcorn, but being as she was the Mistress of Toxin he decided to pass on the delicious looking popcorn, like a beautiful fungus; Its' poison could be deadly...

Arach grinned at Ravenous' answer. She kept her eyes fixed on the Jedi, Rak Avarray, as she chewed on some kernels of popcorn. When she swallowed, she turned her gaze to the dueling Padawans. "I kinda hitched a ride." And kinda killed the pilot and kinda stole his popcorn. she finished silently, looking at the stolen food with some meaning.

After a few moments, and upon seeing Ravenous' indecision, the assassin offered the Wookiee some popcorn. "It's not poisoned, Ravenous," she casually reassured.

She returned her gaze to the duel.

    Temple of Light

It seemed to the Ongree that the duel had begun far swifter than he expected, even after the droids announcement he had not yet activated his saber, and in all of a second Keriath Vansiph had closed the distance striking at him, why him? He didn't have time to ponder that question as he was forced to make some serious adjustments to his plan. He had hoped to lure the two younger apprentices to striking at each other leaving him an opening, yet it was apparent that was no longer a viable option for him.

As Semajj called on the force, it felt as if time had slowed, perhaps only a few seconds had past since the beginning, perhaps a few minutes, but his lightsaber was now in his hand, and he intentionally left it unlit until Van was merely five feet away from him, and the hostile blade was striking directly towards his abdomen. To a normal being at this point, the match would have been over before it started, but Semajj was no normal being, he was a Jedi... er well a Jedi Padawan, but a Jedi nonetheless.

He waited until the last second, and the emerald blade blazed to life swatting the other green lightsaber to the side with what may have appeared to be casual ease. Semajj didn't advertise his form as others did, though it was no secret he favored form III Soresu. Knowing this he intentionally began the fight in an unusual way, with Form I Shii-Cho, it was the form taught to all Jedi as younglings, though he had not studied it in years he fell into the natural patterns, welcoming them like an old friend.

Still it did not feel natural to him, it was too aggressive for his diplomatic nature. Semajj made two or three parries, and struck low hoping to off balance his opponents, though he figured it was not as strong as it might have been had one more skilled in this form tried a similar move. Instead after a few moments he fell back on a more defensive footing, one far more familiar to him, as he deflected, blocked, and simply stonewalled Vans strikes. Knowing himself to be safe for the moment in his current stance, he chanced a glance past the human, so as to see what Titus Fenton, his other opponent, was plotting. As long as the two of them were distracted they could be open to a surprise attack, as he had initially planned on doing to them, and Semajj refused to be fooled so easily.

As the Padawan Learner crossed lightsabers with his fellow Jedi, he took notice of the subtle surprise shown by Serajj. He hadn't expected the move but it didn't matter, he was ready with lightning quick reflexes that only someone attuned to the Force could employ. The Ongree deflected each attack with rigid but direct motions. For a moment, Van had forgotten the natural abilities that an Ongree had to see from multiple angles. His eyes gave him a special perspective on any situation, especially in combat, to survey the field.

Van took this into mind as he twirled his blade clockwise and pressed the attack on Serajj, who comfortably fell into a defensive posture. The exchanges cracked with bright flashes of light. Being a Lorrdian, Van quickly noticed the body language of his opponent, who was slightly pre-occupied with the unknown status of Titus. It was then he realized he couldn't see the third Padawan behind him.

Van halted his blitz and rolled left to keep Titus in his right side peripheral. He rose to his feet again and paused, his strong leg forward. He stretched out his lightsaber defensively across his body with his left hand, and tucked his right arm behind him.

"Serajj, how many fingers am I holding up?" he asked with a smirk.

Semajj deflected each blow that his opponent struck towards him, and focused on conserving energy for the later portions of the duel. One of the advantages of his form is it prevented him from exhausting himself in the first minutes, a benefit few of the other forms could proclaim to possess. He didn't have to best his opponent, he just had to had to outlast him.

As the strikes continued Semajj maintained a portion of his focus on Titus, the unknown factor on the opposite end of the field, what was his game? If he had intended to take advantage of their distracted state why had he not already done so? Semajj had uncovered their weakness already, and if Van hadn't yet he would soon enough. The wise thing would have been to strike in the first few seconds of their engagement, yet he hadn't. Something was off.

It was at this time the Ongrees force sense warned him the human, "Lorrdian" as his culture was called, was no longer in the position he had been a moment ago. Semajj twisted his frame to focus in the new direction, which he noted now permitted both adversaries to observe their opponent. Of course it seemed Van had caught on to what and been his blind spot, and was now attempting to compensate for it.

And then there was that question he had posited to him. "how many fingers am I holding up?" For a brief moment Semajj lowered his blade, and lifted one eye stock above the other in a sign of puzzlement, only to figure a moment later Van was attempting to tease him. Finally he rotated his eye's in a mocking gesture that represented how foolish the question was. "Talk won't get you anywhere Van, put a little bite in that bark won't you?"

And with that he included a feint strike at the mans head as he propelled forward ready to defend against the next volley of strikes.

OOC: I'm sure we'd all be surprised at the eye gear available in the GFFA Van.:p

Titus observed the other students starting the duel. He had decided to stay out of the fight for the first moments. But now it was time to enter the field, he stepped forward to face Semajj. He had the feeling the Ongrees would be the stronger opponent of the two, he had been an apprentice for longer than him and Keriath.

"How many fingers I´m holding up?" Keriath asked and for a second Titus was confused . Than he realized that his fellow apprentice was trying to distract them from the fight. Stepping forward he concentraded on the lesseons his master gave him in swordfighting. He had never been good with the weapon and the from he had learned, Soresu was based on defense.

Going down on a knee for a second he swund his sword in a low hit against the Ongrees feet, hoping to suprise him.

The Ongree had been keeping one of his eye's on Titus since the beginning, and though he had been slightly surprised at the sheer blatantness of his leap into action, he was not by any means caught of guard by the mans strike at him.

However what did annoy the Ongree was how obvious it was that both humans were teaming up on him. Strategically it made sense, he was the more experienced between them, yet it still felt unfair that he was being targeted.
Though he accepted it as fact, they hadn't set any such rules against that kind of behavior, and to be fair if this had been a real battle this could be an expected formation. Sith didn't care about fairness, and he would not let himself become sloppy just because his opponents were planning intellectually.

With a simple grace he sidestepped the Corellians blue blade while simultaneously deflecting one of Vans attacks. He grinned slightly at the other apprentices ingenuity. He had to think quickly if he was going to win. Soresu was an excellent survival form, with it he could likely last far longer than another in this same situation, but it could also be fairly said that he was only delaying the inevitable. A lone opponents could exhaust himself fast, but with both working together in this manner they could preserve far more energy than they might otherwise. Meaning it may very well conclude that they might chip away at his defensive wall until he crumbled under the stress

But regardless of any unspoken agreement between his opponents this was still a three way duel, they may be focused on him for now but in the end of the day they had to deal with each other too, and he couldn't help but wonder if given the chance they would see the advantage in eliminating one another should an opening occure.

And he saw the perfect opportunity to test that theory.
As Titus registered that his swing had missed, Semajj smashed his green blade down hard, planning on locking the humans blue lightsaber to the ground. It was a risk, he hoped by creating an opportunity, Van would exploit it and take out Titus for him. As his lightsaber would be on top it would be slightly easier for Semajj to fall back if he had too, but if his theory proved true it would be far more difficult for Titus to escape the blade lock in time to defend against Vans expected attack.

Ravenous turned his attention back to the duel. He felt the Ernst of the combatants mingled with reservation.. Would the Jedi be so reserved to not even practice against one another? The Sith were trial by fire and the Wookiee had already claimed two on his bandoleir through this practice. These Jedi would not try and kill each other but their form, as restrained as it was could still let Darth Ravenous devour a taste of the Jedi arts once again... as long as he was allowed. He learned a shadowform from a very successful Emperor so there was no immediate danger.

Suddenly a call of the Dark Side shifted him from the shadows into a corporeal form, he must battle himself; far from the light.

    Sith Temple Courtyard...

The Moraband Sun had baked the courtyard that lay mysteriously tranquil within the newly-repaired Sith Temple. Ravenous tromped to the edge of one of the descending stairwells. He flexed his shoulders, followed with an audible cracking of his joints and eventually took a seat on the stairs. He howled out, not knowing if his desired target, The Butcher of Coruscant would understand...

Like a ghost, Darth Hesper descended from an opposite stairwell-- she was as tranquil and silent as the Moraband sun. The sun's heat fluctuated and shimmered as it bounced off the ground of the courtyard. Hesper had her bare arms crossed over her chest, her saber in her right hand. She wore a black tank, a change from her usual modest clothing.

The distinct howl of Shyriiwook had called her here. It was nostalgic, really-- she had taken courses on Shyriiwook when she studied at the university in Theed, and it was a language she knew well.

"Good day, Underlord Ravenous," she called in reply. "I find your challenge of my title admirable. I've heard you are a fine duelist." Hesper reached the final step, and paused for a moment before stepping down into the courtyard. "But know I am the most patient of all the Sith in the Temple. You'll find no quick victory here." She dropped her arms to hang at her sides, and quirked a half-smile.

Ravenous pushed off from his knees and stood proud. Grasping his blackblade, he descended the stairs. At the last step he ignited the saber; Its' beam crackling. Holding the tool to his side he pointed at the Lady,

"Don't worry about patience Mi' Lady, I shall make it quick for you."

She chose not to respond to Ravenous' provoking, instead focusing her energy on mapping the area around herself in the Force, deciding what the best course of action might be based on her surroundings. The physical and elemental manipulation of the Force was her specialty. The courtyard was her clay, and the Force her chisel to shape it with.

Hesper clasped her hands behind her back and placed her feet in a steady, ready position. Lightsaber still unignited. Then, she raised her left hand before herself-- fingers spread-- and in the blink of an eye, had extricated a single paving stone from before Ravenous and sent it flying at him. He would have close to no time before it made winding contact with his midsection.
