In other words we might have a LOTR RPG or a Gundam RPG for those who want one, but as far as merging two scenarios thats a bad idea.

Yes. Keeping them seperate would be ok, but I wouldn't want to see threads such as Borg Cube invades Coruscant or Protoss and Jedi forge alliance happening, lest it get a bit messy. :)

    No, I disagree.

This is, afterall, a Star Wars board. Why would we host RPG's for other Sci-Fi genres? There are only two forums here at the JC that entertain non-SW topics (JCC and The Senate) and I don't understand why management would want to broaden that more than it absolutely needs to.

If you want to RP with Gundam or Star Trek or......whatever.....find a board that will cater to those genres. The overall emphasis here is on Star Wars, not RPG.

I agree with DA. This is a Star Wars board.

yeah that was my initial impression too. the board should only be for StarWars related material.

I don't care either way, but if non-SW *is* allowed it should keep to its own threads and not get involved with the normal SW RPGs, lest confusion and anarchy take hold. :)

    What Quickstrike said :)

I'm just happy to get a board for RPGs :D

And if it's SW only then I know it will be so good that you wouldn't mind not having any other RPGs ;)

    Sounds fair.
Anyhow, I believe a trial run will be the first order of the day. If everything works out, and the kinks are ironed out, then we could revaluate the situation, afeter awhile. We shouldn't rule out the possibilities of non-Star Wars topics, seriously, what would the point of having every single topic Star Wars? Abeit different shades of Star Wars, but we shall have to see won't we?
Thanks for making it possible, well done everyone.

Sooooo, when does this thing get officiated? We can talk all we want but it all depends on the approval of the admins.

Well, both Josh Griffin and NathanDahlin have shown interest in this idea, as have a large number of regular users. Here is the list of rules that I posted a few pages back....could everyone look them over again and see if they have any problems with any of them?

Also, is it safe to assume that the majority of in-game rules etc. will come from the Westend sourcebooks?

    1) All normal rules of the JC apply: no flaming, no trolling, no spamming, no spoilers, no innapropriate sexual content etc. Any occurances of such behaviour (in or out of character) will be dealt with by a mod.

    2) All thread authors are considered to be the initial Games Masters of their scenario's. They set the scene, guide players during it's course and make decisions as to the outcome of the game.

    3) Mods are only to become involved in a game when there is a serious and honest dispute between a player and the Game Master, in which case either party can approach the forum mod for mediation.

    4) The majority of Role Playing should take place when the majority of participants in a game are online, so Game Masters should determine these times with the players before the game starts.

    5) All Role Playing should be in keeping with the Star Wars Universe (EU inc.) as much as possible and should be as realistic as the scenario allows. This includes rewards for jobs, equipment, costs, modes of travel, lifestyles, environments, interaction between users during a game, etc.

    6) Players are allowed to register socks to role-play with but in keeping with the JC's Sock Policy, only 3 socks are allowed per user. All information about a character which is relevant to gameplay should be openly included in it's profile for all users to see. If a sock/character is killed during the course of a game it must be reported to the mod/admin for banning ASAP (unless the owner intends to resurrect the character in some clever and plausible way)

    7) Players are not limited by canon, only their imagination. In the interests of fairness, pre-existing characters may be used but players are only allowed to use one per scenario (eg: A gamer who uses Darth Vader in one thread cannot use that character in any other game s/he plays)

    8) Defence Forces which involve RP in their activities are welcome.

    9) Groups and organisations are allowed no more than a single thread as a base of operations, for socialising and recruiting.

". If a sock/character is killed during the course of a game it must be reported to the mod/admin for banning ASAP (unless the owner intends to resurrect the character in some clever and plausible way) "

could we just put all the character details into the bio of the user and then just change the details if we are killed to make a new chracter?

It would eliminate the need for an army of socks I think ;)

No, I agree with DA. Socks are not needed to RP. You don't need to have a username just for this. I sure wouldn't. Just... put it in your sig, or better yet, just stick you name in your post somewhere.

    ?[face_plain]

I was suggesting putting it into your bio because it may need a little detail that would be too much for a sig.

I don't think I said anything about needing a sock

There will be many users who want to use socks. Princess Kenobi's RPG Thread in JCC is full of the socks of regular users, who employ them solely in that thread.

I, for one, will definately be using a sock tailored to the scenario I'm gaming in.

That rule does not imply that all games will be played through socks (although that may be something that is up to GM's when they begin their campaigns). :)

I used to RP all the time with the Dark Lords/Jedi thing, Ben. Don't you remember? ;)

And why the devil would I go and tell you who my sock was? [face_laugh]

Those rules sound fine to me, though Rule 4 is probably unneccessary - the GM can decide for themselves whether or not they want everyone to online at the one time. I don't think there needs to be a special rule for it.

    I think that's true.

I don't think everyone will need to be online at the same time. Plus it would be too dificult to do anyway. Especially once there's a large amount of members in the thread.

    Yeah, I see your point(s).

    It's more of a game rule than of a forum-wide rule. :)

Nathan said he's been busy with other stuff which might contribute to the fact that its taking this long but then again, there's no official moderator for the new forum so my guess is that we have to wait for the administration to announce the chosen moderator.

but other than that, the actual creation for the forum shouldn't be too difficult :)

LA, if you like RP so much, why don't you check out the EUC forum and join in the current RP thats going on in there(but the actual RP takes place at a different forum)?
