Sorry, I know it's lame but I couldn't resist.

 

How come anytime I ask something like this everybody disappears?

I thought of a language we could use as the droid language. "oesday isthay oundsay ikelay a oodgay anguagelay?"

Motherboard seems like a good name, what about Roidday (I'm guessing that's "droid" in the new droid language? Or would it be Oiddray?)

i think Roidday sounds better.

 

We could always use M4-78.

Oh, and I am sorely in need of maintenance as well. My laptop bluescreened a few days ago. I might not be on for a while.

 

I am one of the only true droids here. One of my sibs computers was having problems so I went down there and I fixed it. It wasn't working because of virus'. It had so many virus is was surprised it was even running.

But I read Coruscant Nights and I found I-5 very interesting; a sentient droid. I love the Artoo and Threepio reference, as well, when he said that Artoo had - I can't remember the phrase - a high-level of sentience, and that Threepio was annoying

I liked the way Stover wrote Artoo in the Shadows of Mindor. The way he was acting was like he was a sentient being. I like that.
I also was watching old reruns of Star Trek: the next generations and there was this one mechanical creature. It was very tiny but it was sentient. The were all discussing whether or not it was alive. In the end they decided that the being was alive, but not organic. So droids can be alive, but not be organic. They also had a funny name for them, they called them "Bags of mostly water." I though that was funny. Data is also proof that droids can be sentient.

So take that all you "Droids are slaves" meatbags.

We need to come up with a topic to discuss.

 

Anybody have any ideas? I haven't really read any books recently with droids in it. So I couldn't bring something up like that.

 

What do you guys think of this new concept for a Droid.

Essentially, a Droid-brain built into a ship/building computer, and there would be holographic emitters scattered across that ship or building, so a Holographic image of a programmable, humanoid representation of said Artificial Intelligence appears from any said emitter. It could serve several purposes, each defined by the room it appears in. For example, in a library it would act as a Librarian.

Also, since there is Solid State Holograms in Star Wars Canon, they could even act as Security Guards in the appropriate room(s).

Just some food for thought.

 

That sounds cool. It actually reminds me of a ships AI from the show StarHunter 2300. He had holo-projectors all over the ship that he could use to appear in certain parts.

 

That does sound interesting. A sentient ship, there. Better be careful if you try to hijack it or even give it a memory wipe.

 

I doubt the organics would like it though. Because if droids are sentient like we say we are then we can take control of the ship at will.

I quite liked the Dark Nest Trilogy's take on R2 and his past. He connects the Saga together, and everything beyond it, being a true witness of the epic story that is post-OT EU, and Denning payed tribute to it nicely.

Well, it may not be canon, as it actually was one of the ways that they made Darth Maul have a reappearance, but as a hologram that attacked Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, but it could be debated that the technology itself is canon. It appears in Star Wars Tales 17: Phantom Menaces.

Current Senate Happenings: Today in the Senate Jag4Me and Darth_wanderguard were elected Chancellor, and Vise-Chancellor. They were the only ones to run so it wasn't very much of a battle.
