I'm saying they got in there as a team. Are you saying Pujols could have made it in the playoffs, playing one against eight?

The Phillies traded away Bobby Abreu and Cory Lidle, and yet Howard STILL almost carried them to the playoffs.

Ummm Philly was unhappy with Abreu. He wasn't giving them what they wanted. Lidle was just part of the deal.

This is not surprising at all: during the NLCS, Mike & Dog got updates from one of their own reporters staying in St. Louis who observed Pujols often had a contentious relationship with the local media: this guy rubs people the wrong way. And don't forget his indictment of Glavine after he blanked the Cards for seven innings in Game 1.

Maybe not. But I agree with it. MVPs should be on playoffs teams.

To be fair, Philadelphia did win two more games in the regular season, than the Cardinals. It's not Ryan Howard's fault that he plays in a harder division than the Cardinals do.

I guess this award reflects just a bit on that, huh?

In general, I will agree that MVPs should usually be from playoff teams, but I won't say that they should necessarily always be so. ASG (as others have pointed out as well before) makes a good point that the Phillies did win more games than the Cardinals, but that is usually seen as less than directly making the playoffs.
