About time you joined this place

So, I just clicked at a random spot in that time-lapse on YouTube and landed on this first frame... these are the details I had a lot of fun with :)

    Well, I just watched it.
I love the close-up of Brandon after Wieber pulls out his second saber, the bits of blue bleeding into the edges of the foreground. The sabers look fantastic.

Looks like there were touches of IL added as well, on the floor and faces. Very fancy indeed.

The ending got me. I actually thought Brandon died in this one for a moment. The tri-Wieber shot was really eerie. Agent Smith like, even.

    I'm telling you:

It's only a matter of time.

As expected......great job to all. IMO, the pacing of this one is the best amongst the Ryan Vs. series (if you wanna call it that). That's not meant as a slight towards ANY of the others, but it seems that the experience amongst the roto team and choreography just seemed to have grown tremendously.

Hats off to the team for keeping the blades and such "even" amongst all the different roto personnel.

Ryan is a hydra! Don't cut off his head anymore, it just spawns three more Ryans!

Alright. THIS is what I've been hoping for. I was hoping for the answer to the question that everyone knows, but nobody asks.

The question is: Why does Ryan always lose?

The answer: In the grand scheme of things, he can't lose.

It's good to see it all together, and the ending works much better than the TBC... at the end of the original release.

I guess what I meant was now there's actually an answer (though I phrased that really badly).

Back in the day, I never wondered why Ryan lost. I just thought, "Well, someone has to." It just depends on the fight. Now, there's a 'canonical' reason, if that applies.

How was the last shot done? Obviously with roto, but there is a dolly shot the whole time, so did you guys use some form of motion control?

Well done on all levels. I loved the whole thing.

Just checked it out....wow......can't imagine how much work goes into creating the choreography....crazy! FX as always up there with anything released from ILM.

    Much respect

I wonder if that doohickey that Ryan is working with in his "Album of Mystery" on Facebook is some sort of homemade motion control rig. I'm interested as well. I doubt they pulled that off with LEGOs.

Could also be done by shooting 1 shot handheld and the other 2 static, then tracking em in...

The ending was worth the wait surprisingly, and I was glad to have the chance to help out with my 2-3 seconds, which were obviously the best 2-3 seconds because I helped.

I don't know about this shot though; there's clear interaction on the floor with lots of shadows everywhere. I think it would be less work to build your own motion control rig than deal with the roto/matchmoving nightmare that your suggestion would present :p
