We need an image logo to accompany text to put on the business cards, that is easily identifiable as SW, whilst not breaking copyright ;) This image could include anything SW related, such as lightsabers, blasters, ships etc.

We already have an established text logo, which is what you see in our banner above, and all SAFF merchandise, but this competition is for an image logo only.

We are planning a two sided business card, that will be done in two colours. The SAFF official colours are red, blue and black. Entries need to be only two of these colours, but can include white as that will be the colour of the card.

Obviously the size would need to be small enough to fit on a business card, and also leave plenty of room for text.

Our SAFF friends from interstate and overseas are welcome to submit entries :)

You can post your entries in this thread. The deadline will be midnight, Sunday 11 December. Voting will then commence once entries are closed and members can PM their votes to myself, before the voting deadline of midnight, Sunday 18 December.

Toddi, this is for an image logo, not the text logo. The text logo will stay the same.

Ah hmmm. I'm going to think on this, I think something sketched out from an original image, then scaned in and photoshop coloured.

Let me put on my thinking-cap.

Even though I put together the logo for the shirts, I still like the blue and orange that's on the website. Primary colours are baaad from a design perspective.

    Meditate on this I will.

The comp. calls for a logo only, but I thought I'd do a " completed" bussiness card, with the template that was used for the shirts logo.

    [image=http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y241/_Master-Skywalker_/SAFFBussinesscard1.jpg]

The back would have our web address on it in perhaps red maybe.

Let me put it this way, there is NO shot of the SAFF colours becoming orange & blue while i'm in charge.

Sorry, but I like orange & blue or even orange & black as the Holland national colours, but for our local club. NO.

& primary colours are bad from a design perspective ????

I WORK in the graphic repro industry.... you're soooo wrong buddy..
I knocked it back once, i'm doing it again. Sorry Skipp.

Nice ones MS and Reactor Drone! :)

Evil: Primary as in *all* red (250,0,0) or *all* blue (0,0,255) was what I meant - just waking up and posting is baaaad, sorry ;). Red and blue are great (I'm looking at a box of Marble Hill Spring Water in red and blue right at this second and it is really nice), I just find that using the basic full on primary colours with no addition of others OR a lowering of saturation of the one colour is...just....meh. Of course for stiched clothing and logos it's fine, but in printed work, not so much.

Then again, using Comic Sans as a font is just completely wrong! ;) Why would anyone use it...why, why!?!? (see http://bancomicsans.com/ and http://www.noscope.com/journal/2005/01/the-curse-of-comic-sans just for starters...)

just to balance the ledger :

See the : "Comic sans appreciation society" web site...kinda neat ;)
Whilst I don't "love" comic sans..It has never done anything to me, so I say, "Live & Let Live":p

As long as the SAFF logo was in traditional SW font I was happy.

The rest.. meh. Could've been Arabic for all I care...

Please try to remember... i'm OLD. ;)

    I LOVE boring & traditional stuff. o_O

Rough idea for card mockup. Not representative of final resolution, quality or colour. Think the back of this with the web address in the middle and more road signs above and below.

Critiques and suggestions welcome. Back to work now...

    ****Breaking News****

oz_skipp has claimed that he hates the font Comic Sans MS, and yet sources have found the real version of his business card design.

    DAMN SCROLL BAR!

In all seriousness skipp, there's only a handful of fonts that work in professional design and comic sans ms ins't one of them, unless it's being used in a light-hearted way. For the msot part, I see alot of custom fonts being used.

I actually have a great program to make comics (don't worry, you'll all be seen in it...soon ;) ) that uses the font.

    Looks great! ;)
