    I think I'll be cool enough. And that Bikini is stoopid, you have no idea how much embarassment means untill you put on that costume. Poor Carrie Fisher, I sympathise, I sympathise!

    AD's car

    That's a VERY good idea!! I'll help paint ... can't really draw in big scale, but I can kinda stay within the lines when I concentrate! *LOL*

    Hmmm sounds like we could use the help of those involved in the printing industry! Wonder where we could find such people .... hmmmm .... [face_thinking]

    Happy to do that! Good thinking Guri!, well done!

    I believe Tyken is planning this already...he is calling it his project for the year.. ;)

    That's a very daring costume Aiel! You can get skin coloured lycra, it covers totally, but looks the real deal from a distance. ;)

    Ok, since you guys havent done parades with cars I can help.

    First you need to banners on the front of the car and side but mostly on the hood.

    Do not cover up the front grill very much because you will limit air flow and overheat the engine.

    Secondly have someone in the car with a portable radio in contact with those behind in charge suc h as club security or the leader of the group.

    Water.

    Very important, buy a few cases of water for the club members. Secondly make it cold and store in ice chests if possible.

    Also everyone who marches should have the ability to store water in their costumes. Your costumes will increase your chances of overheating. Make sure you are ready.

    actually Beez, we've done quite a few of these over a number of years, and as they're all in our summer, we make sure to always carry lots of water. Those who don't are insane when marching down a bitumen road in 35+ heat. (you haven't seen anything til you've seen an Adelaide Christmas Pageant - very small, very personal, very....well....small town to you guys in America - probably even smaller!)

    As A-D said, our pageants are a lot smaller than those in the US - and we don't have the same security issues as you guys.

    Thanks for the advice though. Taken on board. :)

    on a lighter note.....
    time to 'ozziefy' Beez before he gets here.....

    "hood" = bonnet.
    "trunk" = boot.
    "ice chests" = esky.
    "water" = essential in Australian summer no matter what you're doing.
    "beer" = essential in Australian summer no matter what you're doing.
    the words 'sheila' and 'bloke' are not commonly used in Australia any more. They went out with the second world war.
    anything else guys?

    just to help... [;) face_grin]

    We got a big hole in the ozone layer over us here.

    BBQ's actually dont need fuel anymore :)

    some parts of Adelaide have been known to get flooded out in summer....I remember a particular new years a few years back when it rained all night and all the next day!! We get rain here at weird times for sure!! :)

    I saw a guy wearing an Akubra and a drizabone the other day - very strange looking indeed!! I guess the best bet for keeping the sun off is a bucket hat as Toddi said, a baseball cap or yeah, just keep out of the sun!

    I'm sure you won't rain on anyone's parade while your here. Just best to be prepared and a little bit educated in the 'real' Australian ways of things before you get here, Beez!! We're all here to help. That's the Aussie way. ('til you become a tall poppy..hee hee) :D
