If this is correct then I welcome Sith & Padawans back to the fold. Maybe we were all making too much hay over the script rewrite.

These are probably the Jedi from the flashback.

 

I certainly hope not.

Otherwise, this movie is going to be a disappointment after disappointment.

I feared something like this could have happened when George sold Disney 3 years ago. WHY IS IT HAPPENING?????

 

Why is what happening?

 

I think the whole movie will be one big flashback. There's going to be about five minutes in the 30 years future they're referencing, but that's it!

 

How do we know Luke is in "exile"?
How do we know there is def an academy slaughter?
Let's go with these rumours though...
Maybe Luke set up a first academy out in the open, common knowledge, and it went wrong (slaughter).
So, Luke went to Skellig to set up a second secret academy, and he's not in exile - he's training people in secret.
So when Rey arrives at the end of the film, it's to join the academy.
Perhaps the lightsabre contains the co-ordinates to the new, secret, academy?
Just toying with ideas here.

 

BUT there are rumors not of MSW that have stated Luke is very much doing stuff 'behind the scenes' back in December if I remember-but because MSW didn't sprinkle magic fairy dust on it most didn't believe it.

 

What if Sam Carr is just a background alien or something?

 

I have been thinking that at least 50% or more of what we think to be true in the movie is pure misdirection.

 

A sequel that isn't a worthwhile continuation of the saga

Considering how Han Solo addressed the Jedi as being real, their are probably more of them than simply Luke and in hiding.

Let's also remember that tweet from Indie Revolver way back in which they said that there would be a crazy amount of lightsaber wielders. Some of that is coming true thanks to the Knights of Ren, so may we still hope???

 

I only see one lightsaber with the KOR. I think the current confirmed lightsaber count stands at two.

 

Except that there was a scene described in a toy in which Rey faced a group of Knights of Ren

 

And where did it say they all have lightsabers?

 

Add two and two together. Yes, their isn't actual proof that they have lightsabers, but unless they wield the force like Mother Talzin (which I highly doubt), considering that they have actual sabers in the concept art and also considering that the description in the toy implies that Rey finds herself in danger, it doesn't take much to come to the conclusion that they very likely have lightsabers.

 

OR maybe Force users are all but extinct and lightsabers are exceedingly rare. Maybe Kylo is strong enough in the Force to construct a very crude saber but none of the other knights have been able to follow suit. Hence the blasters and pikes.

Honestly, they look more like bounty hunters to me than dark Jedi.

I HOPE they still exist post flashback and have all been trained in the Force and constructed lightsabers, or all have lightsabers hidden on their persons. But I don't see any evidence of it.
