    From answers.com plus other websites:

He took on the role of a younger Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, a role originally made famous by Sir Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars films. McGregor took very special care (especially in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith) in his portrayal of Kenobi to ensure that Obi-Wan's mannerisms, speech timings, and accents closely resemble Obi-Wan's "Alec Guinness Self".[4] In appearing in Star Wars films, he was continuing a family tradition of sorts: his uncle, Denis Lawson, had played Wedge Antilles in the original Star Wars trilogy. McGregor, though, has stated that the Star Wars films were the worst work that he has done and that he regrets being in the films.[5] He later clarified that his apparent dislike of working on the Star Wars films were due to the fact that most of the scenes were shot using green rooms and background for CGI, instead of with actors and live sets. McGregor was also offered the role as James Bond in Casino Royale but turned it down. He did not comment why.

So yeah, I think Ewan does have some of Alec Guinness in him, a lot of sources point to his displeasure. I still love the guy and love his acting in Star Wars, but I kinda doubt he'll be back at this point.

Ewan was offered the Bond role? Holy ****! I know he could do a great performance, he always does, I just think it would be weird

"Hey, it's double oh-bee wan kenobi!"

I think that was the reason with Sir Alec Guinness. I'm sure they loved star wars and the parts they played, but their problem is/was people who come up to them and say " Hey, you're Obi-Wan!" and " You're Anakin Skywalker!" acting like that's the only thing they've done.

Or that it's their biggest accomplishment as actors. Ewan's done every type of role imaginable and even when I see a movie with him in it I say "hey it's Ewan Mcgregor!" and my friends go "Who?" and I just settle and say "Obi Wan Kenobi."

I think he's definitely been type-casted as Obi-Wan just as Harrison has been type-casted as Han and Indy.

And yet the excitement of going back to Tunisia on his latest motorcycle trip makes this difficult to believe. He was like a little kid, and he was dissapointed no one recognized him as Obi-Wan [face_laugh], so i doubt if he regreted making the movies, he would be bummed by this. Hell, if he really regreted it i doubt he would have made a stop in Tunisia on the SW old sets, he could have just picked another route o_O

I guess it's all in what u want to believe :p. I do know he's worked on three movies back to back (I Love You Philliph Morris, Amelia and currently Angels & Demons), so that might be the reason why he didnt lend his voice for the movie. Just my opinion though, i havent asked him personally [face_laugh]

Regarding Bond, i heard he was among the ones they considered, but i hadnt heard they offered it to him and he turned it down. [face_thinking]

Nothing against Matt Lanter, he does a great job in the TV series, but it would be so great if, just for the movie, Hayden reprised the role. I think he was cheated. People have called Matt a "a less whiny Anakin than Hayden Christensen", but the truth is, Hayden was never given the chance to play the "less whiny Anakin".

I would've loved to see Hayden do the voice too. Matt is pretty good, but Hayden would've been the cherry on top. Like said, Hayden never got the chance to do a less whiny version of Anakin, he was cheated out of this. Clone Wars are Anakin's maturing years, and when he's actually a hero, and they pretty much "ttyl'd" Anakin.

Also, why has this thread titled been changed to "in the CGI series"? I could've sworn it was the movie last time I posted in it.

He was given a chance in ROTS and didn't really nail the part.

You're missing the point. Regardless of the actor, people would have still complained about live-action Anakin because of the script. It can't be denied that the character is being handled differently by the makers of the cartoon than he was in the films, although in the begining of Episode 3, he was pretty close. If Hayden had got to play Anakin again in the animated movie, it would have been cool because the character was given a greater sense of humor.

Oh, on a related note, I just watched The Gungan General, and Jar Jar sounds different. That wasn't Ahmed Best, was it?

There was a "JarJar Voice not Best" thread. I think that it was stated that Ahmed Best was busy and could not do the voice and what ever his other commitments were.

Hmmm, shame. It didn't sound quite right.

On a semi-related note, I recently watched the aptly named Disaster Movie starring Matt Lanter, voice of Anakin Skywalker in The Clone Wars and in one scene, he spoofs Hayden Christensen's character in Jumper. The only clever gag in the entire movie, and it went over most people's heads.

So he's making a career out of spoofing Hayden's performances?

I suppose so. In my opinion, their faces are more similar than their voices, though.
