Nice. It's playing at the Metreon, a few blocks from where I work. However, I won't be able to see it this weekend.

Anyway, congrats Chicago on getting Lucas' museum. There's really wasn't any reaction in San Francisco about not having the museum. I really don't think the general public in SF cares as there's enough people visiting city on a daily basis, so much so that the residents of Lombard Street wanted it close off to the public on weekends, which they did.

Honestly, nothing would fit the overall decorum of Navy Pier better than a giant Ewok village, but we're not the ones spending $400 million to get this thing built.

Yeah, here's an alternative view of the concept, flanked by McCormick Place and Soldier Field. Scale-wise, it still seems to be dwarfed by the stadium.

    I like it.

This is what the parking lot looks like right now.

I'm not sure how much of the grass area Lucas is going to add vs the footprint of the building. One thing is for certain though, that the grass area won't butt right up against the cars wizzing by on Lakeshore Dr. There are going to be concrete barriers, and guardrails, and probably more guardrails.

It definitely stands out architecturally from the old convention center and Soldier field, if not in terms of sheer volume. I'm not exactly sure how visible it will be from Lakeshore Drive. I think pretty much not at all. It will add to the shoreline, but only really for the few people who see it by boat.

It would be so like Chicago to screw itself out of this project.

Having the museum at/adjacent to USC would make nothing but sense, even if Lucas didn't have ties to the university.

The Star Wars museum belongs in Chicago for the same reason Boeing belongs in Chicago: just because, that's why.

A California location has always been the more logical option.

Remind me anyone, why did we need a Star Wars museum... anywhere?

I would say it belongs in the San Francisco area as originally planned. Lucas just wanted prime real estate near the Golden Gate Bridge to build it.

It would make so much sense to have it in the San Francisco area as Skywalker Ranch and Lucasfilm HQ are here.

Of course we don't need it, but why the hell not? It would likely be a very nice experience.

I would love to travel up north to visit a museum there.

    Loud neoclaccisism.

That comparison between the US and the late Roman Empire has now got its cover picture.
