Star Wars: The Magic of Myth was probably the most ludicrous and pretentious "exhibit" ever to come through the Field Museum in Chicago. That's why I wanted the museum here. Something that over the top crass and self-congratulatory needs a permanent home.

Look how beautiful the Field Museum is there glinting in the sun. Re Wocky's comment in that other thread a magnificent shrine to the Gilded Age.

 

They called it a saga before it was a saga, and when it actually became a saga, they called it myth.

personally, I think we should be the location for the Batman museum. Without lower Wacker drive those first two Bale movies would have been nothing.

I was Lausanne in January. Nice city and the renovated Olympic Museum is a must see. I love how cars actually stop for pedestrians crossing the street. However, almost all the shops are closed by 7pm and it's extremely expensive, like dining out. The cost of a McDonald's Big Mac meal is about CHF 14, which is about $14.

Well, two, if you count the lawsuit.

But it looks like it will open in 2019.

 

I still would prefer the museum in the San Francisco Bay Area, but Chicago is nice. It will be a good reason to get some Garrett Cheddar Popcorn, a deep dish from Giordano's and hot dogs without ketchup.

 

So will George make tweaks to the museum in 2027 claiming it was his original vision?

Who knows whether they can prevail in court. But there's nothing special about that space between Soldier Field and the convention center. It's not a wildlife refuge. It's not a park.

that little strip of green at left used to be a small airport where rich businessmen flew in and out of the city. After 9/11, Mayor Daley decided to close it down as a security risk, but the richies fought him with everything they had. So he had the runway bulldozed in the middle of the night. Now: a park! Did I already tell that story? That's how much I love it.

 

And no terrorist attacks on Chicago since! A visionary, that Mayor Daley.

Chicago’s Lucas Museum of Narrative Art No Longer in the Works

 

I do understand the value of green space. Once lakefront green space goes, there's no getting it back. But it would have brought a lot of people to the lakefront museum campus. It would have been a fantastic add on to Bear's games and visits to the Field Museum (where the Magic of Myth exhibit has landed before) and the Planetarium.

If I were Lucas and Hobson, I wouldn't waste a dime of my money trying to fight this legal battle.

 

Even if you had 40 billion dimes?
