Except they don't have tusks. Unlike Walrus Man. Who sadly escaped being called Buttface. Who now prefers to be called Ponda Baba. Umm, what was the question again?

Tusken Raider sounds more menacing. I personally call them Tuskens though.

"Tusken Raiders" comes from a "Fort Tusken" which was destroyed by them.

I always liked Sand People better for some reason. At least that's how I generally referred to them as a kid.

"Tusken Raider" does sound menacing, but "Sand People" sounds really dangerous in a mysterious, creepy way.
I usually alternate between the two.

In KOTOR; they were just called "Sand People." The "Tusken Raider" name seems to not have been around in those times.

    I usually use Tusken Raiders.

Can we have a poll up? I'd like to see how many people vote for each.

I don't remember that in the OT the term Tusken Raider was used. In A New Hope, it was only Sand People. Was it first mentioned and only mentioned in the PT?

I don't recall the name "Tusken Raider" being used in any of the ANH dialogue at all.

    *checks copy of script*

The term IS mentioned in the descriptions of them, but the term is not used in the dialogue, everybody uses the term "Sandpeople". A quick check of the PT scripts shows that "Tusken" is used in dialogue in TPM and AOTC. Personally, I don't have a preference for either, but I tend to use Tuskens a bit more often as the term is easily recognized by all fans. I guess one could think of the term "Sandpeople" as a pejorative term of some sorts, much like how some native peoples today still have less than friendly terms used to describe them. Of course, I doubt that few beings have ever had a chance to have a polite discussion with the Tuskens regarding race relations, much less what demonym they want people to use.

'Tusken' is mentioned in TPM and AotC. 'Sand People' is mentioned in RotS and ANH.

Well Sand People has some negative connotations and has some implications to today's racial connotations which I WILL NOT SAY and NO I DETEST AND HATE RACISM - hence Tusken Raiders sounds much better - besides they do conduct raids eh?

I call them Tusken Raiders though what's weird is they're never called that in any of the movies.

They're called Tuskens - but the Raider bit might not have been used - it's been a little while since I've watched them.
