Lit Save our Empire!

According to Aftermath just a few months after the Battle of Endor the glorious Galactic Empire is on the verge of total collapse.
How can this be?
When the democratically elected government lost its first battle station to rebel scum terrorists at Yavin the Empire mobilized stronger than ever with one resounding defeat after another.

What was different about Endor?
I know our Beloved Emperor was assassinated but that can't be the sole reason, can it?
History shows that when a figurehead, (no matter how magnificent in splendor and power) is murdered empires and regimes go on. For years, sometimes hundreds of them, in fact.

Why even in our own EU the Empire was strong and capable for years.

What our Empire needs is new and powerful leadership. If only Grand Admiral Thrawn would return from the Outer Rim.
