We have been contacted by our member Nick (SpiceSmugler) to participate in this Year's annual The Summit Center Autism walk. Nick is a teacher at the Summit Center, this is an annual fundraiser to raise funds for the Center, and promote awareness of Autism in children and adults. We have participated in these event a few times now, one year we formed a team to walk, in others, we've both walked in costume with the kids/families, and stayed back at a table.

As of right now, we are working on details but have the arrival and event start time and date.

This is a worthwhile organization that I would be glad to support. I can't do the walk but could do table duty.

I have some more details for this. We have been invited to participate in the ribbon cutting at 10. We will have or own area where we can set up whatever we would like to set up (photo backdrops, table, etc...). Our area will most likely be in the grassy area by the playground where we were two years ago. We are welcome to wander and interact with guests before and after the walk (which starts right after the ribbon cutting)if we aren't getting much traffic. There are two walk routes, one is 3-5 miles and the other is less than half a mile (great for Summit families and families with small children). We are not expected to walk, and in my experience there isn't a lot of opportunity to interact with many walkers because it's so crowded. With that being said it is a free country and no one would object if that's what you want to do, the short route isn't too tedious for most costumes. During the walk it is a good time to take a break. The first walkers usually return around 10:30. Then there will be hotdogs and pizza available for the walkers, which we are welcome to enjoy as well. There will be VIP tents for teams that raise over $5000 (I'm aiming for my staff team to get one), and these will be cool to visit. The committee has asked if we could do the Jedi activity, which was a big hit the last time. The walk wraps up at 1pm. We will have our own changing room in the school. While the parking spots at the school are reserved for Summit families who have children with disabilities, we are able to drop off or gear at the door and park at the ITT next door. That had worked out well for us in the past. I've tried to include every detail I can think of, but if you have any further questions please let me know
