Couldn't find this on search, but...

As you know, the guys who made the fanfilm "Saving Star Wars" are selling it on DVD for $20 a pop.

Is this even legal? I thought you couldn't charge for fanfilms. Does this mean that you can charge so long as you don't make a profit? That doesn't seem right to me; how could Lucasfilm know whether they make a profit or not?

Saving Star Wars is a parody of Star Wars concepts and is therefore protected by copyright laws.

^ It does not contain copyrighted music and other such things that fan films tend to have.

I do think there are some sketchy issues with all the toys and costumes and stuff in the shots, but...

    Rick McCallum loves you!

But doesn't it contain Star Wars names that are proprietary to Lucasfilm?

Why is that people worry so much about this copyright thing? Every week there's a new thread about it, maybe somebody who really knows the law should write an article and put it at the top of the forum or something.

    Why do they worry?

Cos it only takes one tit to get SW Fan Films shut down!
