Saving Threads

I'm glad I found this thread again! Scott just got word from Snowboards that we need to cut back on our memory space on their server. We're using over 15 Gig of space, and they want it reduced. So, major pruning is going to be happening very soon.

The way it's set up now is that all threads over 6 months old get pruned, but the more "active" threads (over 100 replies) get locked instead of deleted. Don't be surprised if those larger locked threads get deleted next time. If anybody has any favorites that they want to have spared, let us know so we can save them. Otherwise, they will be gone very soon.

An auto-prune just ocurred, so I think this thread has become relevant again. Requests are always welcome.

By requests, I mean suggestions for threads to find and bring back up.

 

If you defoliate a bonsai tree when it begins to leaf out in spring, the leaves grow back smaller. This is a good way to make your bonsai smaller and more compact looking.

 

What about a thread like the original BYS. Is there anyway to save it on this website?

 

I would suggest that you save the thread to your hard drive and then upload it to another website provider just in case. To save the thread on the website, it has to be archived, and not all the mods are currently willing to do archiving as each page of the thread (especially if it is a long thread) has to be individually archived which is time consuming.

 

SotS, do you think that you would like to change the thread title back to the original "Saving Threads", since there's already a link to this thread at the top which makes it quite obvious?

Hey, this may have been covered in previous pages but I need to know- how can I personally archiove some stuff? I wanna archive some old Games stuff (what's eft of it). How can I do that?

 

Well, don't all rush to help me at once.

 

If you want to archive the threads for personal use, you could just save the threads to your hard drive or print the threads out. If you want to archive them in a website, then I can't help you there. I'm not very knowledgeable in that department.

 

OK...well, I recently reformatted my computer. Before that, I tried to save some threads and it wouldn't save them to hard drive for soem reason. However, I think it may work now my comp's been reformatted and all.

What happens if you don't save the saving threads thread? Does the universe fold in on itself?

 

It's an interesting question, but I don't think our human minds could handle the answer, YTAP.
