    I've just a general question, which hopefully you can answer.

    Is there an equal balance between Imperials and Rebels on all the planets, or are certain planets overtly Imperial or Rebel?

    I'm leaning towards chosing Corellia or Naboo as my starting planets, but I don't know which is "more" Imperial. I know the Emperor has a retreat on Naboo, so perhaps Naboo would be more Imperial (which doesn't exactly fit my perception of it). Canonically the Empire had its hooks on Corellia during the OT, but I don't know if it'll be the same in Galaxies. I do love the way that some buildings in Coronet look like those on Imperial Center, though.

    So, for a diehard Imperial loyalist like myself, which planet would you suggest as a starting location? (All other considerations about planet choice I throw aside. More than anything, I want to be an Imperial.)

    Well, I think I've seen a heavier Imperial presence on Naboo. It's almost inexistent on Corellia, at least in the cities. But you can see many CorSec officers doing their duty on the streets.

    EDIT : On a secondary note, I want to add a few words about my screenshots : they are ugly. Well, in fact so ugly compared to the real potential of the game, that I really hesitate to show them to you. Since the NDA has been lifted, I've seen many screenshots that are so crisp and detailed, it makes me think I haven't played the same game as everyone. Graphically the game can be magnificent, and although that doesn't change my opinion of the game itself, I definitively think it'll be much more enjoyable if you've got the latest hardware available.

    It was night when I landed in Theed, the capital of Naboo. I walked in the streets till I reached the magnificient palace. It was a very refreshing change compared to Tatooine. I was very surprised to see an old friend of mine right there in front of the Palace. A fellow Bothan who grew up on Kothlis with me.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/naboorori/naboo01.jpg]

    We sat a while in a cantina and talked about the old days back on Kothlis. It was really great seeing him again, but unfortunately he had to go... He grew up really nervous when a squad of Stormtroopers entered the cantina and arrested two Devaronians, and left in a hurry. But before that, he told me that another childhood friend, Tar'kan, was living here on Naboo, in Deej'a Peak. So I set off to see this good old Tar'kan, and took a shuttle to the mountainous town.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/naboorori/naboo02.jpg]

    This town is splendid, I'll probably consider settling down there once I get enough money to retire from the spying trade. Anyway, once I got there, I found only Tar'kan's droid who told me he was actually on a trip to Rori, hunting wild Tortons. Apparently my friend had become a very good gunman for hire, and I was really expecting to see him again. So I took another shuttle to the star port of Moenia, a small town near the swamps, and from there I flew to the small moon.

    As you probably know, Rori was settled only recently by the Naboos, so it isn't very developped, there are only two cities, Restuss and Narmle. However, it seems the planet has become an important staging ground for the Rebel forces who want to harm Imperial installations on the planet.

    I finally contacted my friend via comlink, and he told me he was near Restuss and would soon be in town. So I decided to hunt a few squalls while waiting for him... I though this would be a good training, you never know what may happen while exploring. Squalls are everywhere on Rori, sometimes causing disorder in town when they come in and look for food. They aren't aggressive, unless you attack them... And if you're not careful enough, you may end up in a bacta tank. While I was hunting, a squall took me by surprise and knocked me unconscious.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/naboorori/rori01.jpg]

    I thought I was done for, but it after all it left me alone, and once I regained consciousness, I was finally able to take my revenge. As it turns out, the animal tasted quite good.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/naboorori/rori02.jpg]

    Well, I finally met Tar'kan in Restuss, but he was hitting on some hot Twi'lek chick. I didn't want to disturb him, so I bought some new clothes while he finished his business. I kept my old clothes for more delicate explorations in hostile territory, but I felt much more comfortable in in those new ones. But I digress... You don't care about that, do you ?

    Tar'kan and I then decided to go on some trip in the wilderness of Rori. I still had much to learn, and he could teach me. He told me everything about his gunman life, and it was fascinating. Nothing like my stuff, you know with the failed musician and all.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/naboorori/rori03.jpg]

    We finally came across some Gungan statues, which was quite surprising since the moon was colonized only recently.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/naboorori/rori04.jpg]

    The next day, near another statue, we met some Gungan scouts, and we asked them many things. They didn't want to say anything about the statues, but they told us about some sort of camp nearby.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/naboorori/rori05.jpg]

    As it turned out, it was a small landing pad for Rebel Special Forces, but we didn't stick around for a long time. As I said, Rori is quite of a hot spot. You never know when a fight might start.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/naboorori/rori06.jpg]

    That was a good idea, since very close by we encountered a few Imperial commandos who were about

    It was night when I landed on Dathomir in a research outpost. The planet seemed like a very dark, menacing place, so I immediately put my old clothes back on. Better be careful.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir01.jpg]

    I tried to immediately start exploring, but it was too dark, so I finally decided to wait for the sun to rise before moving any further.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir02.jpg]

    So I went to the small local cantina and gathered informations about the planet. Apparently, Dathomir is the home of the legendary rancors, and of some "witches" that are supposed to have powers of some kind. Of course, I wouldn't believe that. I learned that sometimes Imperial convoys left the outpost in direction of the west, so that's where I decided to go.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir03.jpg]

    The jungle was all around the outpost, and while it was the day, I still couldn't see much.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir04.jpg]

    In fact, it's so dark down there that some plants glow, like some fishes in the core of Naboo, as I've been told. Those were not good exploring conditions, so I decided to try and climb above the jungle. The planet is very mountainous, and in the deeper valleys, all there is is jungle. You know, basically exploring this planet is like going to a roller coaster on Vorzyd 5.

    When I reached the top, I was surprised to see that in fact the higher places of Dathomir weren't that dark. I soon came close a herd of Malklocs, some giant herbivors you can find in legions on Dathomir.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir05.jpg]

    The planet is teeming with life, which is quite surprising, but it really feels like the whole planet is alive or something. I walked for a few hours when it started to rain...

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir06.jpg]

    I was starting to think the sun never showed up on Dathomir, but soon after that I came near a bright almost sunny plain. It was quite nice, you know, after all this darkness.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir07.jpg]

    Let me tell you about some incident that happenned to me on that plain. You see, there a giant gravy spiders roaming on that plain, and one spotted me. I immediately went to the ground, hoping it'd move along. But no, it stood right over me.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir08.jpg]

    I didn't move for an hour, but the filthy stinking arachnid wouldn't move, even when it started to rain again.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir09.jpg]

    Well, after the rain stopped, I decided that since I had no other choice I might as well kill it. Thankfully Tar'kan thaught me some useful tricks, and in no time the spider went down.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir10.jpg]

    I should have been warned by that adventure, and get the hell out of this planet ASAP. But no, I moved on, and finally got near a small herd of wild rancors. The first time you see those beasts, you can't help but feel really impressed. They are huge and I immediately thought they must be devastating when they hunt.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir11.jpg]

    I soon discovered that this last assumption was true. Well, I came a bit to close of that herd, and one spotted me... I tried to run, but in no time it caught up with me, and I was thrown to the ground by a huge paw.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir12.jpg]

    I thought I'd die when it happenned. But I immediately played dead, and apparently it worked, and the rancor went away.

    [image=http://www.pxart.com/starwars/img/swg/dathomir/dathomir13.jpg]

    I guess he wasn't hungry. Well, that was a good lesson, and since then I was much more careful when trying to see wildlife up close. The night was falling, so I set up a small camp nearby, and rested f

    Krayts take 25 or more people, including a few medics. With the 25+ it still takes a good 20 min to chop away at one. On one such excursion to kill one I died, walked/ran for 15 minutes to get my body and start fighting again, died and did it again! I don't have any screenshots up on the internet so I don't have anything to link to at this time.

    I also witnessed a wedding (which according to the groom was for real and legally binding! The guy who gave away the bride, I found out later, was Q-3PO (Kevin; one of the head developers for the game)

    I first had to work on my slicing skills before I tried to find that Imperial Outpost on Talus, and during my time on Corellia I had known one very skilled slicer girl, but I knew w^she went into hiding a few years ago, so I first had to find her. I contacted a Selonian friend of hers, and she told me she was hiding in the Agrilat Swamps, inside a huge stone mushroom. I'd never gone into the swamps, but I'd heard rumors that it wasn't a nice place... Well, except for hiding, that is.

    Holo #1

    I left the city, and started across the country in direction of the swamps.

    Holo #2

    I wish I could show you more of Corellia, but since I lived many years on it, I didn't think of taking many holos of it. Anyway, it's kind of a nice quiet planet, not much excitement to be found outside of the cities.

    Holo #3

    Well, except when you get surprised by the local fauna. Thankfully, the beast was only curious of nature, and not aggressive.

    Holo #4

    I finally entered the Agrilat Swamps. Quite a dark place compared to the rest of Corellia. It's covered by a cloud of dark fumes. I met a group of Selonian huntresses, and asked about a 'big stone mushroom'. They gave me a direction to follow, and I left them.

    Holo #5

    The Swamp is stunning, it's all crystalline.

    Holo #6

    It's incredible what nature can do, look at those thin stone arches !

    Holo #7

    And I did not mention the trees, that seem made entirely of crystal.

    Holo #8

    But anyway, I finally found the huge stone mushroom I was looking for. And sure enough, my slicer girl was hiding inside.

    Holo #9

    It took me about a week to get some real slicing skills, and then I left her and the Agrilat Swamp, head back to town, and took a shuttle to Talus.

    I arrived at sunset on Talus, in the small but very beautiful city called Narshal, I think. I have a doubt about the name right now, though. Anyway, I really like Talus, it feels really quiet and appeasing, especially with that permanent light purple sky.

    Holo #10

    I went into the cantina, to try to find some info about the Imperial Outpost. I met a CorSec officer and two Dralls, who told me that some trouble had just happenned and a few CorSec agents had gone rogue when they had learned an Imperial Outpost had been built on Talus.

    Holo #11

    The Selonian always seem to know where to find everything you look for, so when I came across a small camp right outside of Narshal, I asked if they knew where I could find those rogue CorSec agents. They told me they had constructed a small base in the mountains, so I went in that direction.

    Holo #12

    On the way, I saw some huge Turtors. I was really impressed by their size.

    Holo #13

    It's fun how you think you know a star system, but from another planet on the same system, things seem so different, so I wasn't even sure I could identify all the planets I saw in the sky. Except for that one, that is of course Tralus. I could even see Centerpoint ! I had never seen it, since it doesn't appear in the sky of Corellia. I wish I knew who bui

    Apparently, a major battle between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance had taken place in this system recently, that's why the Empire had blockaded it. The Empire had first lost something very important, and had then blockaded the system, but most of the Rebels had gotten away. I landed on Yavin IV in a recently deployed Imperial Outpost, at the edge of the jungle.

    Holo #1

    I was quite surprised when my comlink chimed. It was Tar'kan ! He had been stranded on the moon for a while, but wouldn't say what he was doing here over the comlink. He asked me if I could meet him in the jungle. Of course, I said yes, and he gave me his approximate location, near an old temple, he said. I asked an local worker droid where I could find one of those "Massassi" temples, and he gave me a general direction to follow.

    Holo #2

    I left the outpost and started toward the jungle, seeing very weird mushroom trees on the way.

    Holo #3

    The jungle was quite thick, but not as oppressive as the jungle on Dathomir. It was almost pleasant.

    Holo #4

    I finally reached a mountain, right in the middle of the jungle. I decided to climb on top of it to have a better view of the surroundings.

    Holo #5

    There's definitely some really weird vegetation on this moon, almost like the work of a mad genetician. From the top, I was able to locate a temple towering above the jungle, and started toward it.

    Holo #6

    On the way I saw Mawgawks, animals that are almost as weird as the vegetation.

    Holo #7

    I finally started seeing some ruins and knew I wasn't very far from the temple.

    Holo #8

    I arrived at the temple a few minutes later, and was really impressed by the size of it. I would have liked to get closer, but it was surrounded by very dangerous looking creatures, as if the temple drew them. I decided that staying alive was my top priority.

    Holo #9

    I contacted Tar'kan on the comlink, and was able to reach his position soon after that.

    He told me the Empire had paid him a large amount of money to get on the moon and help track down rebels. But he got captured by the people he was hunting, and soon learned to appreciate their ways. Not enough to join them, but enough to stop hunting them. But that broke his contract with the Empire, and he couldn't get off the planet. But he'd detected my arrival - don't ask me how - and he'd hoped I could help him. Of course I was going to help him.

    Holo #10

    We then moved on and reached an Imperial high security camp. There were some prisoners there, but unfortunately we weren't in position to help them.

    Holo #11

    We sneaked in the command tower, and after a small slicing session, we learned that the Empire had just discovered the presence of a small smuggler outpost on the moon. That was our way out, and we'd have to move on as quickly as possible before the Empire could locate it.

    Holo #12

    On the way, Tar'kan told me that the temples had been built by Force-sensitive beings, and that the moon had been the theater of a big battle millenias ago between the Jedi of old and the "Sith". He'd learned that from some rebel scientist, who told him that it was somehow linked to the planet Dantooine, where the Empire was conducting some secret researches. I would hav

    LOL, Quest. As I said in my review : "the day SWG is released, millions (well, not exactly, but bear with me) of keyboards will suddenly cry out in terror..." Not exactly the way I expected it to happen, but close enough. :p

    -------------------

    We escaped succesfully from Yavin IV, but ended up some remote planet, or more exactly another moon, Endor. I don't even know now where it is exactly in the galaxy. There was a small smuggler outpost there too, and Tar'kan decided to work there for a while, while waiting for a transport to the core. I couldn't wait, and since nobody was leaving anytime soon, I decided to go to the research outpost I was told about by one of the smugglers.

    The moon of Endor is covered with forest, but for once it was not a tropical forest.

    Holo #1

    Soon after I left the outpost, the sky started to darken, and rain wasn't far, so I moved on quickly.

    Holo #2

    I came at the foot of what seemed like a huge mountain.

    Holo #3

    I started to climb it, but when I reached the summit I was surprised to see only a desert.

    Holo #4

    You wouldn't expect that from a forest moon, but this desert is actually quite huge. I saw some Imperial harvesters, and wondered what they were sampling there, and why on this remote moon nobody ever heard about.

    Holo #5

    I eventually went back to the forest, and I must say it's teeming with exotic lifeforms.

    Holo #6

    There you can see some peaceful lantern birds.

    Holo #7

    And right there, in the setting sun, a dreadful mantigrue. Better not get close to one of those, from what I've been told.

    Holo #8

    There's some beautiful vegetation there, too.

    Holo #9

    I soon encountered some sentient beings, the Jimba. They're some kind of very small fluffy bears, quite cute. They seem quite inoffensive.

    Holo #10

    I even saw a small Jimba village, their main food seems to be fish, as you can see.

    Holo #11

    My next encounter was by far less charming. Some Dulok tribesmen started to chase me after I got to close to their camp. They threw spears and rocks at me, and it's a wonder I'm still alive. I manage to hide on the ground and mask my scent. They didn't see me and left after a while.

    Holo #12

    I finally met those Ewoks some smugglers had told me about. From what I'd understood, they aren't dangerous, as long as you don't anger them. I was very cautious and had no problems with them.

    Holo #13

    I saw a small hut built on a tree, but from what I've heard there's whole villages built in the trees. I didn't see any of those, though.

    Holo #14

    A few hours later, I came near a large wooden bridge, and was welcomed by Ewoks on the other side.

    Holo #15

    At first I had some difficulty to understand what they wanted of me, until they started dancing. I supposed that was what I had to do too, so I tried to move as they did, and they seemed pleased.

    Holo #16

    They escorted me through the forest...

    I had gone straight form the smugglers' nest into the pirates' lair. My "generous" pilot had decided I could be sold for a good price as a slave, so he was going to sell me to some slavers on Lok. But thanks to my natural skills, I managed to barely escape from the slavers' camp.

    Holo #1

    They nevertheless spotted me as I was running away, and they started pursuing me. I had to hide, and quickly. Thankfully, their camp was near a volcano, and I knew it'd provide plenty of cover if I could reach it.

    Holo #2

    I ran on the slopes, hiding as much as possible, and some slavers stopped following me. Unfortunately, a few of them were still on my tail.

    Holo #3

    I reach the main crater and hid there. It was quite daring, and apparently it paid off. The slavers weren't crazy enough to follow me in that inferno.

    Holo #4

    While in the crater, I saw fire birds. I suppose it's quite a rare sight, and I was quite "lucky" to see that fiery ballet in the blackened sky.

    Holo #5

    A few hours later, I'd reached the other side of the volcano, and met some Imperial deserters who were hiding there. I asked them if they knew how I could get the hell out of this planet. They told me I should go to Nym's fortress, where I should be able to take a shuttle quite easily.

    I'd heard some stories about the legendary pirate Nym who had been quite famous during the Clone Wars, when he was fighting against the Trade Federation. There were some rumors about his ship, and some sort of very advanced bomb generator built on it. It was called 'The Havoc', if my memory serves me well. I didn't know this was his "home" planet, and neither did I know he had built a stronghold here.

    Holo #6

    I moved on toward Nym's stronghold, but I had to cross several rivers to get there. An horror. Those rivers are acid and stink like a Hutt. Or maybe worse.

    Holo #7

    And then I saw a Kimogila. The Imperial deserters had warned me about them, so I decided to keep my distance.

    Holo #8

    I managed to get to the shore right before the Kimogila decided to take a bath.

    Holo #9

    But I hadn't been careful enough, and hadn't spotted the second Kimogila. I thought if I did not to move, it would not attack me, like that creature I saw in a holonet movie a long time ago.

    Holo #10

    Well, apparently the Kimogila's sight is not based on movement. It attacked me, and I ran as hard as I could.

    Holo #11

    But it soon stopped charging me, for some reason, and I managed to get away safely.

    Holo #12

    The next life forms I encountered were by far less aggressive, like those Snorbals.

    Holo #13

    Or this Gurnaset.

    Holo #14

    Then night fell, and I met some semi-sentients Gurks. They were partying or something, so I said hi and moved along. I did not want to end some kind of ritual.

    Holo #15

    The next day, I was walking quietly across the plains when I heard some thunder-like noise. I discovered the source rapidly : some Droidekas were rolling toward me, and deployed themselves around me. I did not offer any resistance.

    I arrived in an Agro Outpost on Dantooine, which I left immediately. I was quiet impatient to learn more about the "Force". I would first have to get to the Imperial Outpost, though, to find where I could learn more, from their recent discoveries.

    Holo #1

    I soon encountered some animals, but I didn't disturb them, and moved along.

    Holo #2

    Then I saw some sort of primitive sign made of bones and dead wood.

    Holo #3

    It did not take long before I met who had erected it. Those are called the Kurga, I think. They are primitive people native of Dantooine.

    Holo #4

    I followed them to their small huts of stone and earth.

    Holo #5

    Communicating with them wasn't easy, but I nevertheless managed to get some things out of them.

    Holo #6

    They had told me about "nearby strangers with grey huts", which turned out to be an Imperial camp.

    Holo #7

    I pretended to be an renowned archeologist working for the Empire, and I said I had landed on the wrong outpost, and needed to get to the Imperial Outpost where I should start working. A stormtrooper escorted me to the officer who were hunting nearby.

    Holo #8

    They checked my false ID I had crafted with my slicing skills, and since everything was in order, they gave me the coordinates of the outpost.

    Holo #9

    Dawn was rising when I came near a very peculiar sculpted head in stone.

    Holo #10

    I then got on some old road bordered with stone heads. Those clearly hadn't been sculpted by the Kurga. They seemed very old, like several millenia.

    Holo #11

    I finally arrived at the Imperial Outpost.

    Holo #12

    The sun was rising when I got inside. Quite a nice sight.

    Holo #13

    Since I had all the necessary clearances, I was allowed to browse the Imperial files, and took not of the most likely places where I could learn more about the Force.

    Holo #14

    I left the Outpost, and soon after it started raining.

    Holo #15

    The rain seemed like it would never end, and it was getting heavier.

    Holo #16

    And to make things even worse, I had to cross a river. My fur was mess, I stank real bad.

    Holo #17

    But the rained finally stopped and I was able to get dry while taking a rest near a Thune herd.

    Holo #18

    A bit further, I started to see some ruins of the old times, like this menhir ring.

    Holo #19

    Nearby I even saw some Mon Calamari rebels in the purple wilderness. It seems they were there to retrieve some material that was abandonned on the planet a while ago...

    Holo #20

    There are old roads everywhere on t

    Well, this was the last part of my story. I hope you liked it and storted out the EU from the AU. I've got a few more screenshots that could be of interest, ask me if you want to see them. I'll post them as such, not inside a story.

    That'll be the last you hear of me & Galaxies for quite a while, since I don't have the time nor the will to play any further for the time being. Being able to join the beta was a great opportunity to see how the game really is, and while I haven't seen all I would have liked to see, I saw some cool stuff nonetheless.

    Now this thread could be used by people who got the game to post screenshots of interesting EU locations. You can find the coordinates of some of those here. By any means, if you come across one of these locations in the game, please post the screens here so that everyone can see them.

    It could be interesting if someone made a 'wildlife' guide of the different planets, with screenshots using the 'Examine' function of the game, and of course, if possible, close-up screenshots of the animals without the interface. :)

    That's a few ideas, if you have more, you're welcome to post them.

    PS : If you don't know where to host screenies, I can host them.

    After reading your story, PrinceXizor, I bought Galaxies. And am so glad I did. The game's fun, and the EU is great!
