Okay, so is anyone actually up for this?

They are selling the books at Ace for $50 if people want their own copies. I am planning on buying a copy though sometime in the next two weeks.

If people want to get together and play, I'm happy to host (and maybe even run something), however I ain't going to get all excited until I know people actually want to play.

I can provide more info if people want it.

    Hugs

Yeah, I'd be up for it. It'd be a first time playing an old-school tabletop RPG, but I've looked at the Serenity rules and it looks like a bunch of fun. So yeah, if enough people are interested, count me in.

The only RPG I know anything about is the sort that blows up tanks...

I could stand to hear a little more.

Hmmmm, don't think I would term that as a RPG game. In any case as there is a lot more involved than creating havok as it were. In short you take the role of a character and pretend to be that person as they go through adventures and events. Kind of a like reading a novel but one where the story unfolds on the fly.

<--- didn't think he'd be taken quite so literally... but thanks.

Must check out this interesting concept sometime.

Well hey, I know I could stand to be a bit nerdier. Role-playing would be just the thing, I expect.

Sorry BBN, Cargin, Marv, but as you can plainly see I'm holding ticket #1. Shotgun! Not that numbers would be (too) limited...?

    And I am......

I don't plan on this being a weekly thing (I doubt I'll have time over Christmas) but maybe every fortnight when we can squeeze it in.

Which means that I really should start coming up with plots sometime soon (damn the fact it's so new that it doesn't have any modules). I also don't mind sharing the GM work if others want a go. Just give me some time to play first and work out how the mechanics actually go together past character gen.

It's not D20, well not really...it's not really like any system I've ever encoutered. It is really simple though (well so far it looks simple). So it should be easy to grasp.

I've had a chat and if it's like every 2nd week or something..at night, I'm in too. Not that I've played an RPG since about 93, and wasn't real good then!

Can you handle a bunch of newbies Kit????? :)

Doesn't look like I have much choice :p

As long as you guys don't mind a fairly newish DM who will try her hardest (but is prone to mistakes) then it is all good :)

If you want to start then think of what you would like to play. This game doesn't really have any classes as such, but there are 'subtypes' of people that would be most useful on board a ship. They are:

    Mechanic
    Captain
    Fightin' type
    Social Character
    Medic
    Pilot

If you have a hankering to play one of these (or anything else) then post it up.

    o_O

I'd be anything. As long as I'm playing a male character... :p

    Unless...[face_thinking] [/Homer]

Put me in as the Pilot of nobody is desperate to play it. Remember the 'comic relief' dosen't have to be the Pilot.

Is it set on Serenity? or just another ship?

We can create a ship. In the other came I'm playing we are on a firefly, but it is a newer one then the one in the film (and it has more stuff). Ships are easy to create.

Do the Firefly characters get invoved?

If I can manage to pull off the characterisation (or if someone is willing to help) then yes, it can happen as an adventure if people want.

    Are WE the characters?

In what sense? Are you the characters from Firefly (River, SImon, Mal etc), I'd really rather not. I think having your own character is much better for everyone involved (and besides, I'd want to be River :p ) If you mean do your personalities have to line up with the character? It's up to you, there will be points of similarities in all of them but mostly people seem to play the same sort of characters time and time again (yes, that may have seemed obvious to everyone but I just thought I'd make it clear again).

Character selection looks good so far.
