Guilty, 20 years. I don't think anyone can really be surprised at that.

    Well...

At least most of the "experts" were throwing out a number somewhere around the 10 year mark.

Doesn't really matter anyway, the Australian Government is looking to get her transferred here. So she'll get put up in a minimum secruity "prison" for a while, then appeal the ruling in a year or two and it'll be back to normal.

And she took the news fairly well. You could see her telling her mother not to worry.

Edit:Oh, I nearly forgot - she'll be able to sell "exclusive" stories to all the different rags and make an absolute bucket load. Maybe even get a Biography written. She can really only stand to profit from it.

Lets just solve all legal cases from now on, with Rock Paper Scissors, and let Karma do the rest.

It could be the glue, that binds our peaceful new society together. As long as those stinkin beaurocrats don't try and introduce amendments like stupid "grenade" or "Dynamite"

Only if they include tiger hand. Otherwise it would be true justice.

    sounds like a plan!!!! :D

but seriously, if it's that easy to get a life or near to life sentence over there, I'll be spending my tourist dollar elsewhere. I've heard of these things happening before, but for some reason it's hit home a bit harder this time.

Given that Indonesia is to justice what Americans are to healthy food, I'd never planned to go there anyway. I mean, I have some family reasons not to go - i.e. that they kicked my father's family out, ruining the infrastructure in a bout of nationalist stupidity - but also political reasons.

Besides, Thailand is a nicer place, really, and even though they still treat foreigners charged with drug offences like **** there's no real anti-Western Islamist movement in Thailand that I'm aware of.

    :)

Hmm I was sure that AUstralia had planted a jetpack equipped soldier undercover int he courtroom to fly COrby to safety if the trial went awry.

But the verdict came and no jetpack guy. I was really really dissapointed. Dissapointed in the verdict and dissapointed in John Howard for not putting a guy in a jetpack in that courtroom.

to be fair, i think John Howard also had the concern of the life and well being of the jet pack guy, as jet pack technology at this point has only come so far, one is likely to either burn, crash or simply fall to their death.

possibly a wiser choice was to get some kind of nightcrawler character to bampf his way in and out of the courtroom using his mutant teleporting powers

Popping in on my way back from "home" next year.
Don't see why not...just gonna keep my eyes on my bags.

Oh and S_M...I'm assuming your comment is about 'you_know_what' back in the day? ;)

    [face_laugh] X 10!

Well, I wouldn't put it quite that way ;)

SOE, you could say that, although there is a little more to it. Let's just say videotape in the wrong hands doesn't always make friends. ;)

And if anyone's going, I saw a potential baggage procedure, I don't know all the details but something about shrink wrapping your luggage, and not touching it if there's any holes or anything at the other end.

And if this was to ever happen to you, demand everything gets fingerprinted.

Oh, that's right, you're Irish not Australian, despite living in Australia.

Oh, that's right, you're Irish not Australian, despite living in Australia.

Yeah hence I put home in "" quotations...geez, I'd have thought someone who's a 'teacher' would actually have at least a wee brain.
Guess not...oh and I actually referred to it as HOME instead of Ireland because I know you'd have a typical E_S bitch about me going on about Ireland...but ahwell.
I know you're a blaggard so I wont bother wicha.

Hmm...do you consider Australia your 'home'? I mean...you don't live here do you?

SOE, you could say that, although there is a little more to it. Let's just say videotape in the wrong hands doesn't always make friends.

[face_laugh] Hmm...feel free to PM me if you want ;)
I MAY have heard this one from you a few years ago...not sure.

At the risk of sounding irreverent, I think Schapelle missed her cue.

Judges: Have you anything to say before we pass sentence?
SC: Yes. BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY!
