Quick, post info about the last mass shooting in Japan.

 

No reason whatsoever. I'm sure some NRA jerkface advocate would tell you that any hunter should have the right to bear such a beast of a gun. I'd tell such a jerkface to go **** himself for trying to pull such bullcrap.

 

It seems to me that guns are working just fine, it's the people who use them that has me worried.

 

Perhaps as important as re-assessing gun laws is a much closer look at mental health care in the US and what more can be done to help people with mental health issues.

 

Those poor people. My thoughts go out to those lost -- 27 in total and 18 of them children (most of them kindergarteners).

For the survivors, I hope those children will be able to find some safety and sense of security tonight.

I'm so tired of reading stories like this. I don't understand why people who wish to purchase weapons aren't required to undergo stringent psychiatric evaluations. It's disgusting. Even child abusers can get guns in this country -- and there's no words for that.

 

The President is making a statement in about 15 minutes. People are already talking gun control politics, but I hope he bypasses that argument for today while the tragedy is still so fresh.

What else is there to say though? The standard "our hearts go out to the victims", "this is a dark day for America", "we must remain vigilant", etc? We've all heard the same speech far too often. It's long overdue for larger steps to be made. It's not too soon, it's too late.

 

Cnn just reported that the shooters mother worked at the school as a teacher and was killed.

Point is, you can talk guns all you want. You can take a place like Japan and it will still have mass murder, just perpetuated with a different weapon.

But hey, use tragedies for political gain all you want. But you wont win it.

Mass killings happen all over the world, so it's alright if we make it a lot easier for the killers.
