Sci fi RPGs?

Don't get me wrong I love fantasy but I would like to see more sci fi RPGs preferably set in space. The only space opera rpg games we have are Mass Effect and Star Wars The Old Republic. While there a lot of fantasy games like Skyrim, Dragon Age, and Pillars of Eternity. What would your take on the genre be? How would you make sci fi interesting for RPG players? FTL? No FTL and only set in our Solar System at a time when humanity is colonizing Mars and mining asteroids? Aliens or only Humans? A fun light heated story like Guardians of the Galaxy or something more serious?
