Hey Crix =) Hope you like it over here! I came over for uni too. (I looked at Stirling but decided on Glasgow) I finished first year, withdrew, became a resident, now they're paying my tutition and I'm back again! sometimes it feels like I'm never gonna get finished with Uni!

Stirling's lovely, but to get some real student feel you'll definitely need to come into Glasgow sometime, check out the student unions and clubs here. I also hear Edinburgh's a great place to go out, but I haven't really tried. =)

Only thing I've really done in Stirling is the tourist thing. I think I've actually been through that one castle at least 5 times!! It's beautiful there, you're going to love it. Are you starting in the fall?

I personally had no qualms about haggis and have heard from everyone that it's great. I'm trying to convince my parents, though, you know. And I just want to make sure I go to a place that has some good haggis so I don't get an unfairly poor assessment of it.

And I am definitely having an Irn Bru as soon as I arrive.

My trip is in early June. Actually, I'm going to be there the weekend of the Edinburgh Marathon, which might cause some difficulties... I think that's the day we're out in the countryside, though.

Thanks for the welcome Callie! Yes, I will be starting in the fall and I plan on doing plenty of traveling around the country (and Europe in general when I can!).

I will be in Stirling a lot but I will also be spending time in Glasgow, especially if my beloved Red Sox are in the playoffs. I've been told some bars in town have Major League Baseball playoffs and up to the World Series on the tele and I have to follow my team somehow! I also would like to check out the Celtics and Rangers sometime and see what it's like.

Speaking of which, can anyone tell me what the major team in Stirling is? For Scottish Primere league I believe...

The Red Sox? Don't you have to wait another 86 years or something? ;)

I saw online this bit from some English TV show with Ewan McGregor playing bagpipes and talking about how good haggis is. Highly amusing. I didn't know he could play the bagpipes. Er, at least, attempt to.

Hey all, sorry long time since my last visit. I'm sure you've missed me terribly. Mmmm feel the sarcasm there.

My impression on food is that I'll try anything once. And although I didn't have haggis during my time across the pond, there are some very good yet heart-attack inducing food over there.

Well apparently something has frozen over....and it isn't any body of water remotely in this hemisphere.

good for you, Gordy. Despite my own attempts, even I can't pull that off and I'm supposed to be in training for a 100-mile bike ride.

And what's a Scottish beer I should be able to find in Boston?

The best beer I had while in Scotland (and I hear you can't get much out of Scotland) is McEwan's 80 Shilling.

    Mmmmmm beer..... *sighs*

Well the Scots completely owned RotS, I'll give you that much without question.

Also, my grandma and I finally found our geneology link from the first McClelland in America back to the guy who came over from Scotland.... so it turns out we're decended from Carlyles. Yes, as in Bobby *and* Robert the Bruce's mother.

Not sure which of those to be more proud of. Bit disappointed I couldn't be a Connolly :( Hey, there are always my other Scottish families. We've several of them.

Ya know, I was glad I got to see some rugby matches on TV whilst in Scotland. I think I figured out the rules pretty well, which is good considering my college next year has a rugby team but no American football team.
